The author has previously (Trudy IMM UrO RAN, 19(2013), no. 3) described the groups lying between twisted Chevalley groups G(K) and G(F) of type 2Al, 2Dl, 2E6, 3D4 in the case when the larger field F is an algebraic extension of the smaller nonperfect field K of exceptional characteristic for the group G(F) (characteristics 2 and 3 for the type 3D4 and only 2 for other types). It turned out that apart from, perhaps, the type 2Dl, such intermediate subgroups are standard, that is, they are exhausted by the groups G(P)H for some intermediate subfield P, K ⊆ P ⊆ F, and of the diagonal subgroup H normalizing the group G(P). In this note, it is established that intermediate subgroups are also standard for the type 2Dl

AbstractThe interplay between peripheral and central inflammation has a significant role in dopaminergic neural death in nigrostriatal pathway, although no direct assessment of inflammation has been performed in relation to dopaminergic neuronal loss in striatal nuclei. In this study, the correlation of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a marker of peripheral inflammation to striatal binding ratios (SBR) of DAT-SPECT images in bilateral caudate and putamen nuclei were calculated in 388 drug-naïve early PD patients (288 tremor-dominant, 73 PIGD, and 27 intermediate) and 148 controls. NLR was significantly higher in PD patients than age and sex-matched healthy controls. NLR showed a negative correlation to SBR in bilateral putamen in all PD subjects. Among our three subgroups, only TD subgroup showed remarkable results. A positive association between NLR and motor severity was observed in TD subgroup. Besides, NLR could negatively predict the SBR in ipsilateral and contralateral putamen and caudate nuclei in tremulous phenotype. Nonetheless, we found no significant association between NLR and other clinical and imaging findings in PIGD and intermediate subgroups, supporting the presence of distinct underlying pathologic mechanisms between tremor and non-tremor predominant PD at early stages of the disease.

AbstractThis paper studies the work of Bak in algebra and (lower) algebraic K-theory and some later developments stimulated by them. We present an overview of his work in these areas, describe the setup and problems as well as the methods he introduced to attack these problems and state some of the crucial theorems. The aim is to analyse in detail some of his methods which are important and promising for further work in the subject. Among the topics covered are, unitary/general quadratic groups over form rings, structure theory and stability for such groups, quadratic K2 and the quadratic Steinberg groups, nonstable K-theory and localisation-completion, intermediate subgroups, congruence subgroup problem, dimension theory and surgery theory.
