The major thrust of the paper is on designing a fuzzy logic approach has been combined with a well-known robust technique discrete sliding mode control (DSMC) to develop a new strategy for discrete sliding mode fuzzy control (DSMFC) in direct current (DC-DC) converter. Proposed scheme requires human expertise in the design of the rule base and is inherently stable. It also overcomes the limitation of DSMC, which requires bounds of uncertainty to be known for development of a DSMC control law. The scheme is also applicable to higher order systems unlike model following fuzzy control, where formation of rule base becomes difficult with rise in number of error and error derivative inputs. In this paper the linearization of input-output performance is carried out by the DSMFC algorithm for boost converter. The DSMFC strategy minimizes the chattering problem faced by the DSMC. The simulated performance of a discrete sliding mode fuzzy controller is studied and the results are investigated.

HEMS (home energy management systems) are controllers that manage and coordinate a home's generation, storage, and loads. These controllers are becoming increasingly important. To ensure that distributed energy penetration continues to grow resources are appropriately utilized and the process is not disrupted within the grid[1]. An approach to hems design based on behavioural control approaches is discussed in this paper which do not require accurate models or forecasts and are particularly responsive to changing situations, in this study. In this study, the role of the customer as well as the micro grid in intelligent demand management is demonstrated using MATLAB 2018 Fuzzy tool.[3]

The idea of Fuzzy Expert System (FES) used in this research work is proposed to assist the medical experts to make right diagnosis for patients that are suffering from hypertension. The only sure way to monitor high blood pressure is through regular checkups. Majority of the researchers that have worked in this field only focused on using fuzzy expert system for classification of hypertension data, while few of them dealt with data analysis. This research work further checked for the efficacy of medication on the patients and the exact time the effect began to have impact on the patients using secondary data collected from questionnaire. It was gathered from the sampled respondents that the antihypertensive medication (Dieuretic) has been reliable in the treatment of hypertension.

One of the main challenges of maneuvering an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to keep a stabilized flight is dealing with its fast and highly coupled nonlinear dynamics. There are several solutions in the literature, but most of them require fine-tuning of the parameters. In order to avoid the exhaustive tuning procedures, this work employs a Fuzzy Logic strategy for online tuning of the PID gains of the UAV motion controller. A Cascaded-PID scheme is proposed, in which velocity commands are calculated and sent to the flight control unit from a given target desired position (waypoint). Therefore, the flight control unit is responsible for the lower control loop. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it can be applied to any UAV without the need of its formal mathematical model. Robot Operating System (ROS) is used to integrate the proposed system and the flight control unit. The solution was evaluated through flight tests and simulations, which were conducted using Unreal Engine 4 with the Microsoft AirSim plugin. In the simulations, the proposed method is compared with the traditional Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, another Fuzzy Logic approach, and the ArduPilot built-in PID controller. The simulation results show that the proposed method, compared to the ArduPilot controller, drives the UAV to reach the desired setpoint faster. When compared to Ziegler-Nichols and another different Fuzzy Logic approach, the proposed method demonstrates to provide a faster accommodation and yield smaller errors amplitudes.
