For a closed convex cone [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] which is spanning and pointed, i.e. [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] we consider a family of [Formula: see text]-semigroups over [Formula: see text] consisting of a certain family of CCR flows and CAR flows over [Formula: see text] and classify them up to the cocycle conjugacy.

Abstract We study the metric projection onto the closed convex cone in a real Hilbert space $\mathscr {H}$ generated by a sequence $\mathcal {V} = \{v_n\}_{n=0}^\infty $ . The first main result of this article provides a sufficient condition under which the closed convex cone generated by $\mathcal {V}$ coincides with the following set: $$ \begin{align*} \mathcal{C}[[\mathcal{V}]]: = \bigg\{\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_n v_n\Big|a_n\geq 0,\text{ the series }\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_n v_n\text{ converges in } \mathscr{H}\bigg\}. \end{align*} $$ Then, by adapting classical results on general convex cones, we give a useful description of the metric projection onto $\mathcal {C}[[\mathcal {V}]]$ . As an application, we obtain the best approximations of many concrete functions in $L^2([-1,1])$ by polynomials with nonnegative coefficients.

AbstractLet ($$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g , τ) be a real simple symmetric Lie algebra and let W ⊂ $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g be an invariant closed convex cone which is pointed and generating with τ(W) = −W. For elements h ∈ $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g with τ(h) = h, we classify the Lie algebras $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g (W, τ, h) which are generated by the closed convex cones $$ {C}_{\pm}\left(W,\tau, h\right):= \left(\pm W\right)\cap {\mathfrak{g}}_{\pm 1}^{-\tau }(h) $$ C ± W τ h ≔ ± W ∩ g ± 1 − τ h , where $$ {\mathfrak{g}}_{\pm 1}^{-\tau }(h):= \left\{x\in \mathfrak{g}:\tau (x)=-x\left[h,x\right]=\pm x\right\} $$ g ± 1 − τ h ≔ x ∈ g : τ x = − x h x = ± x . These cones occur naturally as the skew-symmetric parts of the Lie wedges of endomorphism semigroups of certain standard subspaces. We prove in particular that, if $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g (W, τ, h) is non-trivial, then it is either a hermitian simple Lie algebra of tube type or a direct sum of two Lie algebras of this type. Moreover, we give for each hermitian simple Lie algebra and each equivalence class of involutive automorphisms τ of $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g with τ(W) = −W a list of possible subalgebras $$ \mathfrak{g} $$ g (W, τ, h) up to isomorphy.

AbstractLet $P$ be a closed convex cone in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ which is spanning, i.e., $P-P=\mathbb{R}^{d}$ and pointed, i.e., $P\,\cap -P=\{0\}$. Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}:=\{{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}_{x}\}}_{x\in P}$ be an $E_{0}$-semigroup over $P$ and let $E$ be the product system associated to $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}$. We show that there exists a bijective correspondence between the units of $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}$ and the units of $E$.

Let R d be partially ordered by a closed convex cone K ⊂ R d having nonempty interior: y x ⇐⇒ y − x ∈ K. Assume X ⊂ R d is a connected open set, and ϕ a flow on X that is monotone for this order: If y x and t ≥ 0, then ϕ t y ϕ t y. Theorem: If periodic points are dense, ϕ is globally periodic.

Abstract Let K be a closed convex cone in a real Banach space, {H\colon K\to\operatorname{cc}(K)} a continuous sublinear correspondence with nonempty, convex and compact values in K, and let {f\colon\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}} be defined by {f(t)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}a_{n}t^{n}} , where {t\in\mathbb{R}} , {a_{n}\geq 0} , {n\in\mathbb{N}} . We show that the correspondence {F^{t}(x)\mathrel{\mathop{:}}=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}a_{n}t^{n}H^{n}(x),(x\in K)} is continuous and sublinear for every {t\geq 0} and {F^{t}\circ F^{s}(x)\subseteq\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}c_{n}H^{n}(x)} , {x\in K} , where {c_{n}=\sum_{k=0}^{n}a_{k}a_{n-k}t^{k}s^{n-k}} , {t,s\geq 0} .

In this paper, we first introduce a class of tensors, called positive semidefinite plus tensors on a closed cone, and discuss its simple properties; and then, we focus on investigating properties of solution sets of two classes of tensor complementarity problems. We study the solvability of a generalized tensor complementarity problem with aD-strictly copositive tensor and a positive semidefinite plus tensor on a closed cone and show that the solution set of such a complementarity problem is bounded. Moreover, we prove that a related conic tensor complementarity problem is solvable if the involved tensor is positive semidefinite on a closed convex cone and is uniquely solvable if the involved tensor is strictly positive semidefinite on a closed convex cone. As an application, we also investigate a static traffic equilibrium problem which is reformulated as a concerned complementarity problem. A specific example is also given.

Let [Formula: see text] be a closed convex cone. Assume that [Formula: see text] is pointed, i.e. the intersection [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] is spanning, i.e. [Formula: see text]. Denote the interior of [Formula: see text] by [Formula: see text]. Let [Formula: see text] be a product system over [Formula: see text]. We show that there exists an infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space [Formula: see text] and a semigroup [Formula: see text] of unital normal ∗-endomorphisms of [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] is isomorphic to the product system associated to [Formula: see text].

Let $K$ be a closed convex cone with dual $\dual{K}$ in a finite-dimensional real Hilbert space. A \emph{positive operator} on $K$ is a linear operator $L$ such that $L\of{K} \subseteq K$. Positive operators generalize the nonnegative matrices and are essential to the Perron-Frobenius theory. It is said that $L$ is a \emph{\textbf{Z}-operator} on $K$ if % \begin{equation*} \ip{L\of{x}}{s} \le 0 \;\text{ for all } \pair{x}{s} \in \cartprod{K}{\dual{K}} \text{ such that } \ip{x}{s} = 0. \end{equation*} % The \textbf{Z}-operators are generalizations of \textbf{Z}-matrices (whose off-diagonal elements are nonpositive) and they arise in dynamical systems, economics, game theory, and elsewhere. In this paper, the positive and \textbf{Z}-operators are connected. This extends the work of Schneider, Vidyasagar, and Tam on proper cones, and reveals some interesting similarities between the two families.

In this paper we establish characterizations of the containment of the set {xX: xC,g(x)K}{xX: f (x)0}, where C is a closed convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff topological vector space, X, K is a closed convex cone in another locally convex Hausdorff topological vector space and g:X Y is a K- convex mapping, in a reverse convex set, define by the proper, lower semicontinuous, convex function. Here, no constraint qualification condition or qualification condition are assumed. The characterizations are often called asymptotic Farkas-type results. The second part of the paper was devoted to variant Asymptotic Farkas-type results where the mapping is a convex mapping with respect to an extended sublinear function. It is also shown that under some closedness conditions, these asymptotic Farkas lemmas go back to non-asymptotic Farkas lemmas or stable Farkas lemmas established recently in the literature. The results can be used to study the optimization
