Children's Bureau Publication The Attorney's Part in Adoption, Children's Bureau Folder No. 47, is the third in the series of folders on adoption recently issued by the Children's Bureau. It deals with the part the attorney plays in the adoptive process. Fourteen attorneys, some engaged in the private practice of law, others faculty members in law schools and still others representatives of public or voluntary social agencies, met in Washington in May, 1958 to discuss the role of the attorney in adoption. Particular consideration was given to the legal aspects of adoption in relation to the natural parents, the child and to the adoptive parents. This leaflet is based on the principles discussed in this meeting. Copies are available from the Superintendent of Documents for 10 cents each with the usual discount of 25% on lots of 100 or more sent to one address.

The development of the National Academy of Forensic Engineering as a new organization is an indication of forensic engineering as a recognized and important branch of engineering practice. Its growth in recent years is the logical result of the tremendous increase in litigation involving the assignment of fault in injury and property cases. This is not a new concern for engineers in private practice; for years they have been exposed to the litigation explosion, in cases involving damage to physical facilities they designed, or in which they were involved during the construction process, including more and more of the headline cases in which construction workmen are injured or killed during the construction process. Likewise, the tremendous increase in product liability cases, with million dollar awards not uncommon, have naturally led to the increased need for engineering expertise to determine what happened, why it happened, and who was at fault.

Clinical supervision is recognized as a distinctive area of practice and expertise, yet professional preparation in this area remains inadequate. This paper presents functional information describing the development and implementation of an experimental course on administration, supervision, and private practice, based on graduate student perceptions and preferences for course content and types of learning activities. Current pedagogical trends for universal design in learning and fostering student engagement were emphasized, including problem-based and collaborative learning. Results suggest that students were highly pleased with course content, interactive and group activities, as well as with assessment procedures used.
