Reactions of aquacobalamine with dimethyl and diphenyl phenylphosphonite and with methyl diphenylphosphinite lead to neutral complexes in which the partially hydrolyzed an ionic ligands [PPh(OR)(O)]- (R = Me, Ph) and [PPh2(O)]- are P-bonded to the cobalt(III) ion of the cobalamine moiety. Hydrolysis of the prochiral phosphonite already coordinated to the chiral cobalamine leads to two diastereomers which are formed in different yields. This optical induction is seen in the 1H and 31P{1H} N M R spectra.

ABSTRACTVanadium oxide gels are synthesized through vanadium oxo-alkoxide hydrolysis condensation processes. Different precursors and hydrolysis conditions lead to different sorts of gels. V0(0Amt)3 hydrolyzed with a large excess of water results in red jammy gels with a layered structure. They exhibit electronic and ionic behavior comparable to vanadium pentoxide gels from inorganic precursors. Hydrolysis of VO(OPrn)3 in an alcoholic medium, leads to orange transparent monolithic gels. They have a highly branched polymeric structure. Controlled hydrolysis of vanadium oxo-alkoxide precursors has the further advantage of giving good adherent thin films.

An arabino-4-O-methylglucuronoxylan (10:14:76), a water-soluble galactoglucomannan (1:1:3), and an alkali-soluble galactoglucomannan (0.1:1:3) have been isolated in yields of 7, 4, and 8% from the wood of amabilis fir (Abies amabilis). The structure of the polysaccharides was established by methylation and periodate oxidation techniques. The xylan ([Formula: see text]) contained side chains of (1 → 2)-linked 4-O-methyl-α-D-glucuronic acid and (1 → 3)-linked α-L-arabinofuranose residues, both attached directly to a linear framework of (1 → 4)-linked β-D-xylose residues. The galactoglucomannans ([Formula: see text] 76 and 95) contained (1 → 6)-linked α-D-galactopyranosyl residues attached directly to a backbone of (1 → 4)-linked β-D-mannose and β-D-glucose residues. Partial hydrolysis of the two hexosans yielded 10 and 13 oligosaccharides, respectively, containing (1 → 4)-β-D-mannose, (1 → 4)-β-D-glucose, and (1 → 6)-α-D-galactopyranose residues. The molecular rotations of a series of mannooligosaccharides corresponded to a value of −54° for the specific rotation of an infinitely long mannan. It is concluded that the main hemicelluloses in amabilis fir wood are the same as those occurring in the wood of gymnosperms from other genera. The same three hemicelluloses are also present in the bark of this species.

This study aims to determine the characterization of type B gelatin produced from pickled skintrimming, through the washing using a rotating drum. The base solution used  for partial hydrolysis of pickled skin trimming collagen are sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH). The experimental design applied in this study was CRD non factorial with 3 replications. While the treatment applied in the study was concentration of material for hydrolysis (1 and 2%).  The results showed that hydrolysis with NaOH produced gelatin with a higher yield (37.96 to 46.47 %) than with KOH (35.82 to 42.80 %). The hydrolysis treatment using NaOH solution of 2 % produced gelatin with the best characteristics for the parameters of yield (46.47 %), protein (64 %), ash content (3.38%), water content (7.59%) when compared to other treatments. However, the molecular weight of gelatin produced from hydrolysis using 1-2% NaOH solution (70kDa) is lower than 1-2% KOH solution (100-130 kDa).ABSTRAK  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakterisasi gelatin tipe B yang diproduksi dari trimming kulit pikel, melalui pencucian menggunakan peralatan drum berputar. Jenis basa yang digunakan untuk hidrolisis parsial kolagen trimming kulit pikel adalah Natrium Hidroksida (NaOH) dan Kalium Hidroksida (KOH). Desain penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dengan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah konsentrasi bahan hidrolisis (1 dan 2%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hidrolisis dengan NaOH menghasilkan gelatin dengan rendemen (37,96 - 46,47%) lebih tinggiapabila dibandingkan denganKOH (35,82 - 42,80%). Perlakuan hidrolisis menggunakan larutan basa NaOH 2% menghasilkan gelatin dengan karakteristik terbaik untuk parameter rendemen (46,47%), protein (64%), kadar abu (3,38%), kadar air (7,59%)apabila dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. Namun demikian bobot molekul gelatin yang dihasilkan dari hidrolisis menggunakanlarutan basa NaOH 1-2% (70kDa) lebih rendah dari larutan basa KOH 1-2% (100-130 kDa).Kata kunci: basa, gelatin tipe B, kulit pikel, limbah
