The effectiveness of fatigue and life prediction methods depends heavily on accurate knowledge of the static and dynamic stresses acting on a structure. Although stress fields may be calculated from the finite element shape functions if a finite element model is constructed and analyzed, in many cases the cost of constructing and analyzing a finite element model is prohibitive. Modeling errors can severely affect the accuracy of stress simulations. This paper presents an empirical method for predicting a transient dynamic stress response of a structure based on measured load and strain data that can be collected during vibration tests. The method applies the proper orthogonal decomposition to a measured data set to filter noise and reduce the size of the identification problem and then employs a matrix deconvolution technique to decouple and identify the reduced coordinate impulse response functions for the structure. The method is applied to simulation data from an axial compressor blade model and produces accurate stress predictions compared to finite element results.

The paper focuses on a method for assessing the dynamic loading of the frame of a special wheeled chassis when it moves on roads of various categories. Based on the developed finite element model of the frame, we obtained and analyzed full-size patterns of the stress-strain state of the frame and oscillograms of equivalent stresses in the most loaded zones of the frame.

The multi-variant loading of the large-span unique steel covering of the stadium under snow load is considered. The spatial finite element model is developed using LIRA software. The analysis of the existing schemes application of snow loading is carried out according to the codes. Four snow load cases on the stadium's covering are assumed for analysis. The analysis of the stress-strain state of the stadium structures, the selection and verification of sections of the steel covering are performed. The results show that it is necessary to simulate behaviour of a structure under all possible load cases.

An electric current, applied during deformation, has been shown to reduce the deformation force/energy, while also increasing the maximum achievable strain and decreasing springback. Considering this, the present work initiates the development of a finite element model to investigate electricity’s thermal/structural effects on a tensile specimen. The model allows the effect of joule-heating to be separated from other nonthermal property changes caused by the electricity. Comparison with experimental tensile testing with respect to the predicted stress-strain behavior and transient temperature profiles demonstrates the model predicts these behaviors adequately. A multifield large deformation finite element model is then developed. The model evaluates the stress-strain characteristics of the material while the specimen is carrying a large dc current and is being deformed, incorporating the effect of thermal softening. The simulation results are compared with surface infrared temperature measurements in order to verify the finite element model and then to actual deformation results in order to attain more qualitative and quantitative insight into the effects of the electric field.

G70 Tank car uesd for transportation on liquidsliquids of gas and bulck goods in form of powder,is one of the major class of Chinese railroad freight cars. And the tank car makes about 18% of the toatal amount of freight cars. In this stduy, the carbdoy finite element model of tank car was constructed, and calculated stress of carbody both empty car and fully loaded car, then get the results of key postsitions. According to the AAR load spectrums on the part of the tank car, translated the results into dynamic stress through the quasi-static method. Calculated the damage of carbody with the fatigue analysis method provied in AAR, compared the fatigue life under various comonent.

Purpose. The article examines the effect on the stress-strain state of the parameters of the finite-element model created in the “Lira” software package in a numerical analysis of non-circular outlined tunnels. Methodology To achieve this goal, the authors developed finite element models of the calotte part of the mine during the construction of a double track railway tunnel using “Lira” software. In each of the models in the “Lira” software package, the interaction zone with temporary fastening was sampled in a specific way. After creation of models, their numerical analysis with the detailed research of his results was conducted. Findings. In the finite element models, the values of deformations and stresses in the horizontal and vertical axes, as well as the maximum values of the moments and longitudinal forces in the temporary fastening were obtained. A comparative analysis of the obtained values of the components of the stress-strain state with a change in the parameters of the finite element model was carried out. The graphs of the laws of these results from the discretization features of the two models were plotted. The third finite element model with a radial meshing in the zone of interaction of temporary support with the surrounding soil massif was investigated. Originality It has been established that in the numerical analysis of the SSS of a tunnel lining of a non-circular outline, its results substantially depend on the shape, size and configuration of the applied finite elements, on the size of the computational area of the soil massif, and also on the conditions for taking into account the actual (elastic or plastic) behavior of the soil massif.  Practical value. The features of discretization and the required dimensions of the computational area of the soil massif were determined when modeling the “lining – soil massif” system, which provide sufficient accuracy for calculating the parameters of the stress-strain state of the lining.
