AbstractWe introduce an extended cone algebra, which generalises a Bosbach’s cone algebra within the framework of extended BCK-algebras and show that every such an algebra is a direct product of an ℓ-group and a cone algebra of Bosbach.

A frame-dependent effective action motivated by the postulates of three-space general coordinate invariance and Weyl scaling invariance exactly mimics a cosmological constant in Robertson–Walker spacetimes. However, in a static spherically symmetric Schwarzschild-like geometry it modifies the black hole horizon structure within microscopic distances of the nominal horizon, in such a way that [Formula: see text] never vanishes. This could have important implications for the black hole “information paradox”.

We investigate coupled gravity and a bulk scalar field on a slice of AdS 5 bulk with special BPS branes at the two ends. With a careful treatment of the general coordinate invariance, the complete tensor–scalar spectrum is presented. There are two massless zero modes in the scalar sector, the radion and a dilatonic zero mode. The four-dimensional effective action is of biscalar–tensor type.
