Using information measures to infer biological regulatory networks can observe nonlinear relationship between variables, but it is computationally challenging and there is currently no convenient tool available. We here describe an information theory R package named Informeasure that devotes to quantifying nonlinear dependence between variables in biological regulatory networks from an information theory perspective. This package compiles most of the information measures currently available: mutual information, conditional mutual information, interaction information, partial information decomposition and part mutual information. The first estimator is used to infer bivariate networks while the last four estimators are dedicated to analysis of trivariate networks. The base installation of this turn-key package allows users to approach these information measures out of the box. Informeasure is implemented in R program and is available as an R/Bioconductor package at https://bioconductor.org/packages/Informeasure.

Content-Based Image Retrieval systems backups the image retrieval process using the primary characteristics of image like colour, shape, texture and spatial locations clubbed with the semantic approaches for better efficiency and performance. Various information measures have been proposed in order to increase the level of Retrieval. A method of picture information measures based upon the concept of the minimum number of gray level changes to convert a picture into one with a desired histogram is presented. In search of finding a new perspective an integrated approach of Picture Information Measure (PIM) employed with the primitive visual feature color. The retrieval results obtained by applying color histogram (CH) on PIM (PIM of Red Green and Blue and there integrated variation) + Color Moment to a 1000 image database demonstrated significant improvement in retrieval effectively.

The degree of roughness characterizes the uncertainty contained in a rough set. The rough entropy was defined to measure the roughness of a rough set. Though, it was effective and useful, but not accurate enough. Some authors use information measure in place of entropy for better understanding which measures the amount of uncertainty contained in fuzzy rough set .In this paper three new fuzzy rough information measures are proposed and their validity is verified. The application of these proposed information measures in decision making problems is studied and also compared with other existing information measures.

Similarity measures (SM) and correlation coefficients (CC) are used to solve many problems. These problems include vague and imprecise information, excluding the inability to deal with general vagueness and numerous information problems. The main purpose of this research is to propose an m-polar interval-valued neutrosophic soft set (mPIVNSS) by merging the m-polar fuzzy set and interval-valued neutrosophic soft set and then study various operations based on the proposed notion, such as AND operator, OR operator, truth-favorite, and false-favorite operators with their properties. This research also puts forward the concept of the necessity and possibility operations of mPIVNSS and also the m-polar interval-valued neutrosophic soft weighted average operator (mPIVNSWA) with its desirable properties. Cosine and set-theoretic similarity measures have been proposed for mPIVNSS using Bhattacharya distance and discussed their fundamental properties. Furthermore, we extend the concept of CC and weighted correlation coefficient (WCC) for mPIVNSS and presented their necessary characteristics. Moreover, utilizing the mPIVNSWA operator, CC, and SM developed three novel algorithms for mPIVNSS to solve the multicriteria decision-making problem. Finally, the advantages, effectiveness, flexibility, and comparative analysis of the developed algorithms are given with the prevailing techniques.

Finite quantum many fermion systems are essential for our current understanding of Nature. They are at the core of molecular, atomic, and nuclear physics. In recent years, the application of information and complexity measures to the study of diverse types of many-fermion systems has opened a line of research that elucidates new aspects of the structure and behavior of this class of physical systems. In this work we explore the main features of information and information-based complexity indicators in exactly soluble many-fermion models of the Lipkin kind. Models of this kind have been extremely useful in shedding light on the intricacies of quantum many body physics. Models of the Lipkin kind play, for finite systems, a role similar to the one played by the celebrated Hubbard model of solid state physics. We consider two many fermion systems and show how their differences can be best appreciated by recourse to information theoretic tools. We appeal to information measures as tools to compare the structural details of different fermion systems. We will discover that few fermion systems are endowed by a much larger complexity-degree than many fermion ones. The same happens with the coupling-constants strengths. Complexity augments as they decrease, without reaching zero. Also, the behavior of the two lowest lying energy states are crucial in evaluating the system’s complexity.

Abstract This paper presents shape measures for generalized beta distributions that unit many subfamilies of distributions. For the study of complex systems, the information entropy of the whole family of the generalized beta distribution is obtained. The paper uses the interval of entropy uncertainty as an estimate of the entropy uncertainty for probable models, which are given in units of an observable random variable. The entropy uncertainty interval was used to construct the entropy coefficient of unbiased subfamilies of the generalized beta distribution. Particular entropy coefficients are given for frequently used subfamilies of beta distribution, that greatly facilitates the use of coefficients as independent information measures in determining the shape of models. The paper contains the most general formulas for probabilistic measures of the distributions shape also.

Understanding the behavior of primates is important for primatology, for psychology, and for biology more broadly. It is also important for biomedicine, where primates are an important model organism, and whose behavior is often an important variable of interest. Our ability to rigorously quantify behavior has, however, long been limited. On one hand, we can rigorously quantify low-information measures like preference, looking time, and reaction time; on the other, we can use more gestalt measures like behavioral categories tracked via ethogram, but at high cost and with high variability. Recent technological advances have led to a major revolution in behavioral measurement that offers affordable and scalable rigor. Specifically, digital video cameras and automated pose tracking software can provide measures of full body position (i.e., pose) of primates over time (i.e., behavior) with high spatial and temporal resolution. Pose-tracking technology in turn can be used to infer behavioral states, such as eating, sleeping, and mating. We call this technological approach behavioral imaging. In this review, we situate the behavioral imaging revolution in the history of the study of behavior, argue for investment in and development of analytical and research techniques that can profit from the advent of the era of big behavior, and propose that primate centers and zoos will take on a more central role in relevant fields of research than they have in the past.
