Abstract We extend the study of the non-linear perturbative theory of weakly turbulent energy cascades in AdSd+1 to include solutions of driven systems, i.e. those with time-dependent sources on the AdS boundary. This necessitates the activation of non-normalizable modes in the linear solution for the massive bulk scalar field, which couple to the metric and normalizable scalar modes. We determine analytic expressions for secular terms in the renormalization flow equations mass values $$ {m}_{BF}^2<{m}^2\le 0 $$ m BF 2 < m 2 ≤ 0 , and for various driving functions. Finally, we numerically evaluate these sources for d = 4 and discuss what role these driven solutions play in the perturbative stability of AdS.

Abstract We study a set of CFT operators suitable for reconstructing a charged bulk scalar field ϕ in AdS3 (dual to an operator $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O of dimension ∆ in the CFT) in the presence of a conserved spin-n current in the CFT. One has to sum a tower of smeared non-primary scalars $$ {\partial}_{+}^m{J}^{(m)} $$ ∂ + m J m , where J(m) are primaries with twist ∆ and spin m built from $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O and the current. The coefficients of these operators can be fixed by demanding that bulk correlators are well-defined: with a simple ansatz this requirement allows us to calculate bulk correlators directly from the CFT. They are built from specific polynomials of the kinematic invariants up to a freedom to make field redefinitions. To order 1/N this procedure captures the dressing of the bulk scalar field by a radial generalized Wilson line.

We consider the classical bremsstrahlung of an ultrarelativistic point-like particle on potential, generated by the free infinite Nambu-Goto object ([Formula: see text]-brane). For simplicity, the interaction is supposed to take place via the bulk scalar field. Scalar interaction can model both the vector field and the trace part of linearized gravity. The particle does not intersect the Nambu-Goto object and moves in transverse directions, thus in the ultrarelativistic limit we can regard its trajectory as straight and make use of the perturbation theory. We derive the radiation amplitudes and compute the emitted energy during the collision. The validity of classical consideration is discussed. The results are analyzed in the context of co-dimensionality of the brane embedding.

A five-dimensional braneworld cosmological model in general scalar–tensor action that is comprised of various Horndeski Lagrangians is considered. The Friedmann equations in the case of strongly and weakly coupled [Formula: see text] Horndeski Lagrangians have been obtained. The strongly coupled [Formula: see text] model produces the Cardassian term [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text], which can serve as an alternative explanation for the accelerated expansion phase of the universe. Furthermore, the latest combined observational facts from BAO, CMB, SNIa, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] value observation suggest that the [Formula: see text] term lies quite close to the constrained value. On the other hand, the weakly coupled [Formula: see text] case has several new correction terms which are omitted in the braneworld Einstein–Hilbert model, e.g. the cubic [Formula: see text] and the dark radiation–matter interaction term [Formula: see text]. Furthermore, this model provides a cosmological constant constructed from the bulk scalar field, requires no brane tension and supports the big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) constraint naturally.

Following our recent work on braneworld mimetic gravity, in this paper, we study an extension of braneworld mimetic gravity to the case that the gravitational sector on the brane is modified in the spirit of [Formula: see text] theories. We assume the physical 5D bulk metric in the Randall–Sundrum II braneworld scenario consists of a 5D scalar field (which mimics the dark sectors on the brane) and an auxiliary 5D metric. We find the 5D Einstein’s field equations and the 5D equation of motion of the bulk scalar field in this setup. By using the Gauss–Codazzi equations, we obtain the induced Einstein’s field equations on the brane. Finally, by adopting the FRW background, we find the Friedmann equation on the brane in this [Formula: see text] mimetic braneworld setup.

We present an exact treatment of the modulus stabilization condition with the general boundary conditions of the bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum model. We find analytical expressions for the value of the modulus and the mass of the radion.

In the generalized Randall-Sundrum warped brane-world model the cosmological constant induced on the visible brane can be positive or negative. In this paper we investigate profiles of vacuum expectation value of the bulk scalar field under general Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions in the generalized warped brane-world model. We show that the VEV profiles generally depend on the value of the brane cosmological constant. We find that the VEV profiles of the bulk scalar field for a visible brane with negative cosmological constant and positive tension are quite distinct from those of Randall-Sundrum model. In addition we show that the VEV profiles for a visible brane with large positive cosmological constant are also different from those of the Randall-Sundrum model. We also verify that Goldberger and Wise mechanism can work under nonzero Dirichlet boundary conditions in the generalized Randall-Sundrum model.
