Recent efforts in spatial and temporal data models and database systems have attempted to achieve an appropriate kind of interaction between the two areas. This paper reviews the different types of spatio-temporal data models that have been proposed in the literature as well as new theories and concepts that have emerged. It provides an overview of previous achievements within the domain and critically evaluates the various approaches through the use of a case study and the construction of a comparison framework. This comparative review is followed by a comprehensive description of the new lines of research that emanate from the latest efforts inside the spatio-temporal research community.

Databases in general store current data. However, the capability to maintain temporal data is a crucial requirement for many organizations and provides the base for organizational intelligence. A temporal database has a time dimension and maintains time-varying data (i.e., past, present, and future data). In this article, we focus on the relational data model and address the subtle issues in modeling temporal data, such as comparing database states at two different time points, capturing the periods for concurrent events, and accessing to times beyond these periods, handling multivalued attributes, coalescing, and restructuring temporal data (Gadia 1988, Tansel & Tin, 1997). Many extensions to the relational data model have been proposed for handling temporal data.

An effective analysis of the battlefield situation and spatio-temporal data model in a sea battlefield has great significance for the commander to perceive the battlefield situation and to make the right decisions. Based on the existing spatio-temporal data model, the present paper gives a comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of sea battlefield data, and chooses the object-oriented spatio-temporal data model to modify it; at the same time this paper introduces sea battlefield space-time algebra system to define various data types formally, which lays the foundation for the establishment of the sea battlefield spatio-temporal data model.

Abstract. Starting from the object-oriented idea, this paper analyses the existing event-based models and the logical relationship between behavioral cognition and events, and discusses the continuity of behavioral cognition on the time axis from the perspective of temporal and spatial cognition. A geospatial data model based on behavioral-event is proposed. The physical structure and logical structure of the model are mainly designed, and the four-dimensional model of “time, space, attribute and event” is constructed on the axis. The organic combination of the four models can well describe the internal mechanism and rules of geographical objects. The expression of data model based on behavior-event not only elaborates the basic information of geospatial objects, but also records the changes of related events caused by the changes of geographic Entities' behavior, and expresses the relationship between spatial and temporal objects before and after the changes of behavior cognition. This paper also designs an effective method to organize spatio-temporal data, so as to realize the effective management and analysis of spatio-temporal data and meet the requirements of storage, processing and mining of large spatio-temporal data.

Data management has experienced three stages: labor management, file systems, and database systems. In this paper, manage equipment data using a combination of HDFS file system and HBase database: the principles of HBase data management is studied; equipment data’s reading and writing processes is established; data model of equipment database is designed based on HBase.
