The joint clearance and contact phenomena are the key factors which can induce the nonlinear dynamic responses and affect the performance of the practical mechanism. It is difficult to solve the nonlinear relations between the input variables and responses when the random factors are considered. In this paper, three approximation models, i.e., Response Surface Model (RSM), Kriging model and Support Vector Machine (SVM), are selected to investigate the reliability analysis procedure by the combination of simulation technique and approximation model for the mechanism with joint clearance. The solution strategy with supplemental samples is proposed to solve the problem caused by the occurrence of the abnormal point in the iteration procedure, and to avoid the divergence in the reliability analysis caused by the nonlinear dynamic responses of the mechanism. Meanwhile, the computational consumption can be reduced as the results of the known samples are reused. Finally, the reliability analysis for a slider-crank mechanism with joint clearance is utilized to illustrate the proposed procedure.

To improve the accurate and sufficient recognition of abnormal points on the workpiece, a multidimensional anomaly point identification approach based on an improved eigenvalue method is proposed in this paper. Whether a point is normal or not depends on the angle between the two adjacent vectors which consisted of four adjacent points around the current focus. The comprehensive judgment is carried out by multidimensional approximation. The numerical simulation and actual experiment validate the efficiency of the proposed method to quickly and accurately identify the abnormal point cloud in the surface point cloud data.

Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) is an uncommon illness that is typically diagnosed after chronic pelvic pain. We present a case of superficial thrombosis of pelvic veins from PCS that presented to the emergency department (ED) as a previous diagnosis of pelvic abscess with cellulitis. PCS was diagnosed in the ED by computed tomography after an abnormal point-of-care ultrasound. Here we describe this unusual presentation and our approach to the diagnosis.

Multiphase transportation of the wellhead product in a single pipeline is widely used in oilfields. The oil samples transported in the multiphase pipeline are often live oils saturated by light alkanes. To support the multiphase pipelining more efficiently, in this paper, the solubility and rheology of Chang10 live crude oils are studied at the pressures range from 0 to 2.0 MPa. It was found that the dissolved gas in the live oils is mainly composed of methane (32.70 vol% at 1MPa), ethane (19.43 vol% at 1MPa), propane (21.42 vol% at 1MPa) and C4+ component (22.50 vol% at 1 MPa). The gas-oil ratio, Rs, of the live oils increases rapidly with the increase of saturation pressure. However, the effect of saturation temperature on Rs is very small. The pour point, abnormal point, WAT, viscosity/equilibrium viscosity and yield stress of the live oils decrease obviously with the increase of saturation pressure, meaning that the rheological properties of the live oils improve greatly by gas dissolving. The rheological properties of the live oils are improved mainly by the dilution effect of the dissolved gas.
