Acute Polyradiculoneuritis

A 56-year-old man was referred to the emergency department for the subacute onset of and weakness in the lower extremities, paraesthesia and pain. He was diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia and then, he received the necessary treatment according to national protocol. Radiographic, laboratory, and electroneurographic findings indicated an acute polyradiculoneuritis with prominent demyelination and suggesting the diagnosis of Guillain-Barr syndrome associated with COVID-19 infection.

Acute Polyradiculoneuritis

A 4-month-old German shepherd puppy developed hindquarter weakness after vaccination with a multivalent vaccine. This is suggestive of post-vaccinal polyradiculoneuritis. To date, only 1 similar case has been reported, which may be due to the under-reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions.

The study examined 35 children with acute polyradiculoneuritis; In the course of molecular genetic research, antiganglioside antibodies were detected in the blood serum, which is a criterion for the differential diagnosis of acute polyradiculoneuritis. Against the background of traditional treatment, taking into account the data of immunological studies, the cyclophosphamide preparation was included in the treatment complex. Positive clinical and neurological dynamics confirmed the correctness of this treatment method
