The theme of the TEXONO-CDEX research program is on the studies of low energy neutrino and dark matter physics at Kuo-Sheng Reactor Neutrino Laboratory and China Jin-Ping Underground Laboratory. The current goal is to open the "sub-keV" detector window with germanium detectors. The three main scientific subjects are neutrino magnetic moments, neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering, and dark matter searches. We highlight the status, results and plans in this article.

The theme of the TEXONO research program is on the studies of low energy neutrino and dark matter physics. The current goals are on the development of germanium detectors with sub-keV sensitivities to realize experiments on neutrino magnetic moments, neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering, as well as WIMP dark matter searches. A threshold of 100–200 eV was achieved with prototype detectors at the Kuo-Sheng Neutrino Laboratory. New limits were placed for low-mass WIMPs. The dark matter program will move to a new underground laboratory currently under construction in Sichuan, China.

The status and plans of a research program on the development of ultra-low-energy germanium detectors with sub-keV sensitivities are reported. We survey the scientific goals which include the observation of neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering, the studies of neutrino magnetic moments, as well as the searches of WIMP dark matter. In particular, a threshold of 100-200 eV and a sub-keV background comparable to underground experiments were achieved with prototype detectors. New limits were set for WIMPs with mass between 3–6 GeV. The prospects of the realization of full-scale experiments are discussed.

The proposal of two neutron scattering systems for calibration of two-phase cryogenic avalanche detectors with high sensitivity being developed at Budker INP is presented. This kind of detectors is designed for the search of dark matter and low energy neutrino detection, in particular, coherent neutrino scattering on nuclei. Detector calibration is made with a measurement of ionization yield and scintillation quenching factor for low energy recoiling nuclei (in 0.5 to 100 keV range) originating from elastic scattering of neutrons. To provide wide range of recoiling nuclei energies two systems of neutron scattering are proposed. The first one is based on small-sized DD generator of fast (2.45 MeV) monoenergetic neutrons operating on sealed neutron tube. The second one is based on tandem proton accelerator and lithium target and capable of generation of monoenergetic epithermal neutrons with energy up to 100 keV
