This study demonstrated that impaired growth was noted only if the severity of atopic dermatitis extended over 50% of the body surface area. The severity of atopic dermatitis may have obscured any effect of restrictive diet and potency of topical steroid since children with more severe disease were more likely to use these therapeutic modalities.
