Optimization methods have had successful applications in business, economics, and finance. Nowadays the new theories of soft computing are used for these purposes. The applications in business, economics, and finance have specific features in comparison with others. The processes are focused on private corporate attempts at money making or decreasing expenses; therefore the details of applications, successful or not, are not published very often. The optimization methods help in decentralization of decision-making processes to be standardized, reproduced, and documented. The optimization plays very important roles especially in business because it helps to reduce costs that can lead to higher profits and to success in the competitive fight.

In the present paper we introduce an approach to implementing parallel metaheuristic optimization frameworks which is used in the design of the framework HeO. This experimental cross-platform framework is a collection of popular optimization methods implemented in C++ as algorithmic skeletons. The key feature of the discussed approach is the wide usage of metaprogramming and design patterns which allow to increase the reusability of the code and ease the process of hybrid algorithms construction for the end-user. We consider framework structure and implementation details and provide the results of numerical experiments for some well-known optimization problems.

A modern Pavement Management System (PMS) should be essential for maintenance a metropolitan urban road network. Municipality of Budapest has developed own management system for their road pavement operation. To an efficient outcome the newest methods are used for the data collecting with the most innovated geo-informatics solutions, which are help us in our multi criteria decision making process. We present a degradation model which useful for the prediction of the roughness, yielding surface condition of the pavement in the future. After the whole data evaluation we give accurate information about the general characterization of the permanent road network conditions. Our paper shows that in all modern asset management system based on multi criteria decision making processes, which contain single or multi objective optimization methods. The PMS based on the available-technical and financial data and its optimization process provides a pavement renovation offer for each road in Budapest transportation network and finally the paper presents how can we ranking the invention list from our optimization process.
