Household behavior in the selection of home location and the selection of workplace locations and commuting modes for employed members involves trade-offs among the attributes of the available alternatives for the different household members. A modified form of nested logit model representing this behavior has been developed and estimated using disaggregate revealed preference observations collected in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Three categories of choice—choice of home location for the household, choice of workplace location for each worker in the household, and choice of mode for the trip to work for each worker in the household—are treated as a joint choice made by the household, allowing for differing numbers of workers in different households. A nesting structure that takes into account the greater similarity among mode alternatives is combined with a system for weighting, by age and gender, the contributions of different individual workers’ utilities to the total household utility. This leads to a nested logit model in which each household has its own nesting structure that is based on the age and gender of the household members. The utility function coefficients and weighting function parameters were estimated with full-information maximum likelihood by using purpose-built software. The resulting model extends consideration of household spatial behavior at the disaggregate level beyond the one-worker and sequential-conditional choice paradigms and provides various insights into the nature of this behavior.

The Aim—this paper is to investigate whether there is a certain kind of organizational modes for cooperative technological exploitation. In recent years, an important objective of cooperative R&D alliances built by independent organizations is to explore a new market or to exploit the existing one. Whether the objective can be achieved or not is tightly related to the governing efficiency of the R&D alliance, and the latter in turn depends on the suitable organizational mode. The Method--this paper selects 39 Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning companies listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange according to some certain criteria, and collects their collaborative R&D cases since their listing, and then analyzes the impact of technological exploitation objective to the selection of cooperative R&D organizational modes in light of LOGIT model. The result—this paper shows that the equity mode is prior to the non-equity one no matter the R&D alliance is to explore a new market or exploit the existing market.

The aim of this research was to determine whether child labor in Colombia’s urban areas shows specific characteristics and backgrounds once it is divided by economic activity. The descriptive analysis was based on basic statistics and multiple correspondence analysis, and the probability of working was modeled through a logit model. Finally, a multinomial logit model was applied to consider the six most common economic activity sectors these children work at. The evidence suggests that the probability of a particular type of work is affected by personal characteristics and lifestyles.

Lintong Metro Line is one intercity railway transit line of the “Xi’an urban rail transit network (revision)”. This line forms an important link between Xi’an and Lintong. The main modes of this link are cars, buses, subway and intercity railway. To determine different modes of traffic corridors sharing ratio, this paper determines the logit model coefficients by analyzes the characteristics of different traffic modes, according to the person trip survey of Xi’an. Then finalizing the sharing ratio range of different traffic modes as well as the shared variability when the intercity railway is not repaired.
