<p>With consumer consciousness growing in the area of sustainable food supply, food<br />distribution is looking for methods to embrace, adapt and improve its environmental<br />performance, while still remaining economically competitive. Until recent innovative<br />solutions were developed, coffee pods have been considered as an ecologically unsound<br />approach to single-serve beverages. Some have argued that reverse logistics (recycling) is a<br />better option than green supply chain management (composting). With a particular focus on<br />coffee pods a case study on Club Coffee, which focuses on green supply chain management,<br />is presented for the design of a capacitated distribution network for a two-layer supply chain<br />involved in the distribution of coffee pods in Canada. Our investigation shows that Club<br />Coffee’s relationship is not only critical to fostering the green supply chain ideology, but it is<br />also unique in the business. Findings are presented and limitations and future research are<br />proposed.</p>

ABSTRACT Purpose: To evaluate the universe of published articles that propose frameworks about the relationship between green supply chain management (GSCM) and performance in the period from 1995 to 2014, in order to propose a conceptual model that can be applied to future studies, considering the green profile besides the practices of GSCM and performance. Originality/gap/relevance/implications: The investigation revealed a lack of relationship among the organizations' profile, its environmental, economic and operational performance and GSCM practices. Key methodological aspects: The relationship among constructs was established through bibliometric analysis obtained in the models/frameworks of GSCM practices and performance extracted from the databases "ProQuest", "EBSCO", "JSTOR", "Web of Science" and "Scopus". Further, the content analysis and network analysis were then performed. Summary of key results: GSCM internal and external practices, environmental performance, economic performance and operational performance were revealed as main topics addressed in GSCM. Moreover, it was noted that studies on internal practices prevailed over those addressed to other practices. Key considerations/conclusions: The models studied did not consider whether the corporate green profile could improve the performance of the organization. Therefore, they did not simultaneously measure environmental, economic and operational performance. It was concluded that the addition of the green profile in conjunction with GSCM practices and performance allows for a more in-depth analysis of the degree of a company's involvement with GSCM, as well as its intended objectives and results achieved in the future.

The purpose of this chapter is to identify the dimensions of green supply chain and their impact on manufacturing practices. In this study, the authors used two extended strategies. First thorough review of literature was done considering articles from reputed journals. Second the factors identified from literature review was further refined through experts by forming a problem solving group consisting of seven experts from the manufacturing sector. These factors were used to develop the green supply chain management model using Interpretive structural modeling. Further MICMAC analysis was used to identify the driving and dependence power of the factors. The results of the analysis are very encouraging. Finally, the authors have presented the relationship management strategy for sustainable manufacturing practices.

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the main associations between research regarding innovation and green supply chain management (GSCM).Design/methodology/approachFor this the study sought to (1) present the most cited authors in the area; (2) demonstrate the main localities that develop research with this focus; (3) list the main journals with the published research on the themes. The methodology used was a bibliometric survey using the Scopus database as the data source. The VOSviewer® software was used to perform the analysis of the database from the respective DOI® of each article.FindingsAs results of the research, it is possible to demonstrate the existence of an agglomeration of countries that are interrelated in the development of research on these themes, especially China, the United States and the United Kingdom as the main foundations of this center.Originality/valueThis paper evidences the direction of scientific research within the analyzed area, demonstrating where there is convergence for innovation in actions related to GSCM. This guidance may demonstrate possible existing and unexplored gaps so that researchers can direct future research or check gaps to be filled by the development of new processes.

Green supply chain management and reverse logistics has emerged as a key area of research interest. Recent environmental regulations have also stimulated interest in this field. However, information sharing is a prerequisite to efficient and effective logistics utilisation. Manufacturing organisations in China were argued to be 10-20 years behind their Western counterparts in relation to information sharing in their supply chains (). This barrier needs to be addressed if China is going to maintain and grow its manufacturing position in the world, attempt to address green supply chain issues and their negative externalities. A systematic literature review was undertaken and green supply chain management theoretical framework adopted. The paper explores the perceptions of senior management toward green logistics and information sharing in Chinese electronic manufacturers. Previous research has concentrated on the focal companies (brand owners). This research concentrated on SME organisations further up the supply chain. Semi-structured interviews of eighteen senior managers of electronic manufactures in Jiangsu province China were conducted in 2012. Thematic analysis is applied and the findings contrasted to other research. The paper provides insight to the current status of managers' views on information sharing and green supply chain initiatives. Information platform, skills, investment, and trust emerged as key influences on their willing to engage in information sharing in relation to green supply chains. This research, among others, assists to inform policy for optimal evidence based intervention. Future research directions are also considered.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to introduce and provide an overview of the various issues related to Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and suggest further scope and direction of research in this emerging field. Design/methodology/approach – The work relies on experiences, case studies and other literature related to GSCM. Literature has been segregated to understand various GSCM issues. A detailed review is used to sort out the literature and develop the research direction of the study. The review is focussed on development of GSCM including all those researchers which is relevant to environmental and social sustainability toward operation management and the supply chain. A literature review seems to be a valid approach, as a necessary step in structuring a research field. Findings – The objectives of this paper are to identify major research work conducted on GSCM and to classify them to identify gaps in literature and opportunities for future research. The paper has provided an integrative framework for study, design, implementation and GSCM performance. The findings also identify a number of issues that need to be addressed. Research limitations/implications – Implication of the work is that the knowledge of the research gap can be used to focus efforts on key areas so as to ensure speedy and comprehensive implementation of GSCM practices. Practical implications – The paper may prove to be a very useful source of information to practitioners and regulators in their green practices implementation programs. Originality/value – This paper provides some of the very first insights into development of GSCM theories. The methodological review will provide better understanding of the current state of research in the discipline.

This paper aims to investigate the relationship between green supply chain management (GSCM) practices and performance (environmental, economic and organisational) within the construction sector in Jordan. Based on the literature review, the survey designed included46 key items. Data was collected from 133 managers in the construction sector. Multiple regression analysis wasundertakento test the study hypotheses. The analysis showedmixed results, green construction and investment recovery wassupported in three hypotheses; internal environmental management was supported only with organisationalperformance. The practical implicationsof the findings include creating more effort to attaining benefits from the world trade organisation(WTO) initiatives to establish long-term relationships with foreign customers to learn and enhance green practices in Jordan’s construction sector. This work is one of few studies thatinvestigatesGSCM practices in the construction sector ofa developing country.
