The calculation of the projectilepenetration into target has always been a hot and difficult issue in thescholastic circles. In recent years, a new numerical method, XFEM, has been emerged basedon the conventional finite element method (CFEM), so that the crack propagationproblem has been developed by leaps and bounds. Based on XFEM, the researchfocuses on the crack propagation problem in the process of projectilepenetration into target. In addition, the crack propagation mechanism and itsinfluence of material mechanical properties in the process of projectilepenetration into target are analyzed.
