Virtual enterprise or e-manufacturing is an advanced and effective manufacturing mode to modern manufacturing enterprises. In these modes, business process has been extended to outer enterprises, i.e. inter organization workflow. In order to achieve a efficient tool for workflow modeling with both simplicity and semantics, matter element is applied to construct a matter element digraph, in which a node is matter element. Then manufacturing service based workflow model can be dynamically changed or composed by matter element transformation. A case is studied to explain the approach presented in this paper.

In order to remain competitive, manufacturing enterprises must be able to adapt their business processes, and the associated resources and information systems, to ongoing change. This paper highlights the shortcomings of current business process re-engineering practice and proposes that there is a requirement for a business process for ‘process visualization and improvement’. A framework and methodology for the above business process are described and a case study utilizing the framework is detailed. It is concluded that the process visualization and improvement framework enabled a wide range of company personnel to participate in the case study exercise, to contribute to improved processes and subsequently to hold the view that a significant improvement over previous best practice had been achieved.

In a network production enterprise, if some complex faults happen, it may be possible of resulting in huge economic losses. For resolving real problems in modern manufacturing enterprises, a remote B/S maintenance pattern is designed for manufacturing network equipments by adopting some core information technologies, by the use of knowledge reason and data management view, some remote maintenance support technologies of maintenance decision suitable for network equipments have been minutely analyzed and constructed, finally in some practice the advantage and efficiency for manufacturing network equipments about this network maintenance way have been tested and verified with improved and better services.

Bill Of Material (BOM) is the most important data for modern manufacturing enterprises. To satisfy different requirements in various departments, BOM is modeled in kinds of ways. Meanwhile, how to transfer BOM between departments become troublesome. As a ideal method, integrated BOM model is out of reach for lacking effective approach. This paper proposes a layered BOM model to integrate multi view into a whole one. Furthermore, colored digraph is applied to represent the layered model in mathematic. Also a BOM case is given to verify the method proposed.
