Abstract Dragastanella transylvanica n. gen. n. sp. is described. Its calcified skeleton contains numerous voids, partly related to the molds of soft parts of the alga, but also related to lack of calcification. Interpretation of these voids, especially their attribution to original structures (e.g., primary lateral versus reproductive organ), has important implications for the taxonomic position of the alga, even at the family level. Examination of key sections that include the boundary between sterile and fertile parts of the alga excludes the occurrence of external reproductive organs. Unusual, paired pores in the outer part of the mineralized skeleton reflect an asymmetry within the whorl, excluding the presence of secondary laterals. The alga is characterized by a cylindrical to club-shaped thallus bearing only phloiophorous primary laterals arranged in whorls and flaring outwards, forming a cortex. Mineralized lenticular reproductive organs containing cysts set in the equatorial plane (Russoella-type gametophores) occur inside primary laterals (cladosporous arrangement of the reproductive organs). These characters support establishment of the new genus Dragastanella. Dragastanella transylvanica n. gen. n. sp. resembles species previously referred to Zittelina (Zittelina hispanica and Zittelina massei) and Triploporella (Triploporella matesina and Triploporella carpatica). Except for Triploporella carpatica, whose mineralized skeleton does not permit confident attribution to either Triploporella or Dragastanella n. gen., the other species must be ascribed to Dragastanella n. gen. Therefore, the following new combinations are proposed: Dragastanella hispanica n. comb., Dragastanella massei n. comb., and Dragastanella matesina n. comb. Despite widely overlapping biometrical measurements, these species can be differentiated by the size and location of their reproductive organs, the pattern of calcification around the primary laterals, and relationships among structural parameters such as the size of laterals, number of laterals per whorl, and distance between whorls.

Sinalliaria is described here as a new genus of the family Brassicaceae from eastern China, based on the morphological characters and molecular sequences. Sinalliaria differs from the related genus Orychophragmus in having basal leaves petiolate, simple or rarely with 1‒3 lateral lobes (not pinnatisect); cauline leaves petiolate, cordate at base (not sessile, auriculate or amplexicaul at base); petals obovate to narrowly obovate, claw inconspicuous (not broadly obovate, with a claw as along as sepal); siliques truncate (not long-beaked) at apex. The microscopic characters of seed testa also show significant differences between Sinalliaria and Orychophragmus. Phylogenetic evidence from DNA sequences of nuclear ribosomal ITS and plastid region trnL-trnF indicates that Sinalliaria is a distinct group related to Orychophragmus and Raphanus, but these three genera do not form a clade. The new genus Sinalliaria is endemic to eastern China and has only one species and one variety. The new combinations, S. limprichtiana (Pax) X. F. Jin, Y. Y. Zhou & H. W. Zhang and S. limprichtiana var. grandifolia (Z. X. An) X. F. Jin, Y. Y. Zhou & H. W. Zhang are proposed here.

A new monotypic genus, Ivoria taiensis gen. nov., sp. nov. (Mesostigmata: Uropodina: Uropodinychidae) is described on the basis of seven females collected in soil samples from Ivory Coast. The new genus has large and robust chelicerae, but it differs from the other Uropodina genera having similar chelicerae in several characters, which are presented in a comparative table. The new genus is placed in the family Urodinychidae based on its long setae h1, chelicerae with an internal sclerotized node, fixed digit of chelicerae apically smooth and devoid of apical processes, corniculi smooth.

The new genus Davusia n.gen. is established for Plagusia glabra Dana, 1852, from Australia, a species clearly different from the other known species of Plagusia. The new genus is related to Plagusia Dana, 1851 but is readily distinguished from its described species by differences in the morphology of the front, external maxillipeds, thoracic sternum, and the male abdomen. Baetidae is one of the most diverse families of Ephemeroptera. In South America this family now encompasses 27 genera and more than 130 species. The Guyana region is known for its extraordinary diversity and high level of endemism, which is, above all, remarkable at the tops of the isolated flat-topped table mountains – tepuis. Recently various international speleological expeditions to Churí-tepui explored the cave systems of this mountain. Here we describe a new genus of Baetidae recently found during the mentioned expeditions to Churí-tepui and Auyán-tepui. Parakari n. gen. can be distinguish from the other genera of this family, among other characters, in the nymphs by the absence of abdominal gills I, tarsal claws with subapical denticle larger than the others, right mandible with prostheca bifid and pectinate and with incisors positioned in obtuse angle to mola area, lingua with a tuft of setae, segment II of maxillary palpi with a concavity and a hole apically and segment II of labial palpi with a strong distomedial projection. In the adults the hind wings are absent and genitalia with segment II of forceps with a constriction, segment III elongate and long. Two new species are included in this genus; each one was collected at different tepui. A key and illustrations are included.

The Detarieae, a small tribe of tropical arborescent Leguminosae, has been reported as host of two species of jumping plant-lice: the Neotropical Macrocorsa beeryi (Caldwell) on Hymenaea courbaril and the Afrotropical Retroacizzia mopanei (Pettey) on Colophospermum mopane. Here we add from Brazil 18 new species of Colophorina, Jataiba gen. nov. and Mitrapsylla from Copaifera, as well as nine species of Jataiba gen. nov. and Platycorypha from Hymenaea. In addition to Jataiba, a new genus which is created for five new species on Copaifera and one on Hymenaea, we erect the new genus Apsyllopsis for Psyllopsis mexicana, which is synonymised with Psyllia beeryi Caldwell. Two new combinations are proposed: Apsyllopsis mexicana (Crawford), comb. nov. from Psyllopsis, and Epiacizzia favis (Brown & Hodkinson), comb. nov. from Euphalerus. The new taxa are described and illustrated, and keys are provided for the identification of adults and immatures, as far as known. Immatures of Apsyllopsis and Colophorina induce galls on the leaves whereas those of the other taxa are free-living. Colophorina spp. seem to be monophagous whereas members of the other genera tend to be oligophagous. All host species are associated with two or more psyllid species. Copaifera langsdorffii, which hosts 11 species of three genera, constitutes a super-host.

AbstractThe genus Sagenidiopsis gen. nov. of uncertain family in the order Opegraphales is erected for a byssoid lichen which occurs in the cool temperate rainforests of the Macpherson Range of eastern Australia, S. merrotsii sp. nov. The genus is characterized by its byssoid thallus and bitunicate asci which have no amyloid structures apparent in the tholus. A byssoid thallus is without taxonomic significance at the family level, but is an ecological key character.

A new candonid genus,Schornikovdonagen. nov., with its type speciesSchornikovdona bellensissp. nov., is described from rheocrene springs of Bell County, Texas. It is designated to the tribe Candonini due to the smooth carapace surface, normal pore openings with sensory seta, the presence of a 5-segmented first antenna, two long sexual bristles on the second antenna in males, the narrowly fused terminal segment of the Md palp, a long penultimate segment of the Mxl palp, two long and one short setae on the terminal segment of T3, the absence of an “e” seta on T3, the presence of a posterior seta on the uropod, the presence of 5 + 2 rows of spines on Zenker’s organ, and other characteristics found in the tribe. The main diagnostic characteristics separating the new genus from the other genera in the tribe are the shape of the carapace, the reduced numbers of segments in the first antenna, reduction or absence of exopodial setae in the second antenna, asymmetrical clasping organs, the uropod with one rod-shaped claw, the different shape of the hemipenis, and differences in parts of the chaetotaxy. Based on these differences, we proposeSchornikovdonagen. nov. as a new genus, with the new speciesS. bellensissp. nov., in the subfamily Candoninae in the family Candonidae.

The family Sordariaceae is briefly defined and a list of cleistothecial genera given. Two species of Anixiella Saito & Minoura ex Cain, A. endodonta sp. nov., and A. monospora sp. nov. are described and a key to the four species of the genus included. Apodus deciduus gen. et sp. nov. is described. Two new combinations in Echinopodospora Robison, E. spinosa (Cailleux) Malloch & Cain and E. verruculosa (Cailleux) Malloch & Cain, are proposed to accept transfers from Tripterospora Cain and are followed by a key to species of Echinopodospora. The concept of Zopfiella Winter is broadened to include Z. pleuropora sp. nov. and three new combinations, Z. inermis (Cailleux) Malloch & Cain, Z. latipes (Lundqvist) Malloch & Cain, and Z. leucotricha (Speg.) Malloch & Cain, transferred from Tripterospora. A key to the six species of Zopfiella is presented. The new family Coniochaetaceae is proposed to accommodate the new genus Coniochaetidium and Coniochaeta (Sacc.) Massee. Two species of Coniochaetidium are described, C. ostreum sp. nov. and C. savoryi (Booth) Malloch & Cain, comb, nov., based on Thielavia savoryi Booth.

Magnumtergalis n. gen. a new genus from the Inter-Andean Valleys and midlands of the Colombian Andes’ central cordillera is described. Two very peculiar species are placed within this genus, M. aldarioarenasi n. sp. (type species) and M. albonigra n. comb. An unusual terminalia to the family Gryllacrididae characterizes this genus, in which the ninth tergite is noticeably prolonged, covering the other structures of the male terminalia. This is the first genus of leaf-rolling crickets described from the Neotropics in the last 80 years.

In 1923, the writer in studying some species of the family Trichostrongylidæ, had occasion to create a new genus Graphidioides to receive the form previously known as Graphidium affine (Megnin, 1895), Railliet and Henry, 1909. This species differs from the type species of the genus Graphidium on the following points: absence of cervical papillæ, shape of bursa and disposition of ventro-ventral rays, shape of accessory piece and spicules, shape of the ovejectors and vagina and posterior extremity of the female. In an addendum on the remaining species of Graphidium, G. rudicaudatum the following statement was made:—“Graphidium rudicaudatus R. & H., 1909, from Viscacia viscacia from Argentina resembles G. affinis very closely. It differs mainly by its smaller size, equal ovejectors, sharply pointed externo-dorsal ray and absence of an accessory piece. Its affinities to Graphidioides are so close, that the latter point requires re-investigation. The other points are only of specific value, and it is proposed to include it in this new genus. Should the absence of an accessory piece be confirmed, its position would require re-determination.”
