AbstractWe show that the moduli space of abelian surfaces with polarisation of type (1,6) and a bilevel structure has positive Kodaira dimension and indeed pg ≥ 3. To do this we show that three of the Siegel cusp forms with character for the paramodular symplectic group constructed by Gritsenko and Nikulin are cusp forms without character for the modular group associated to this moduli problem. We then calculate the divisors of the corresponding differential forms, using information about the fixed loci of elements of the paramodular group previously obtained by Brasch.

Abstract We combine the technology of the theory of polytopes and twisted intersection theory to derive a large class of double copy relations that generalize the classical relations due to Kawai, Lewellen and Tye (KLT). To do this, we first study a generalization of the scattering equations of Cachazo, He and Yuan. While the scattering equations were defined on ℳ0, n — the moduli space of marked Riemann spheres — the new scattering equations are defined on polytopes known as accordiohedra, realized as hyperplane arrangements. These polytopes encode as patterns of intersection the scattering amplitudes of generic scalar theories. The twisted period relations of such intersection numbers provide a vast generalization of the KLT relations. Differential forms dual to the bounded chambers of the hyperplane arrangements furnish a natural generalization of the Bern-Carrasco-Johansson (BCJ) basis, the number of which can be determined by counting the number of solutions of the generalized scattering equations. In this work the focus is on a generalization of the BCJ expansion to generic scalar theories, although we use the labels KLT and BCJ interchangeably.

AbstractLet Sk(Γ) be the space of holomorphic cusp forms of even integral weight k for the full modular group SL(z, ℤ). Let be the n-th normalized Fourier coefficients of three distinct holomorphic primitive cusp forms , and h(z) ∊ Sk3 (Γ), respectively. In this paper we study the cancellations of sums related to arithmetic functions, such as twisted by the arithmetic function λf(n).

Abstract A special cubic fourfold is a smooth hypersurface of degree 3 and dimension 4 that contains a surface not homologous to a complete intersection. Special cubic fourfolds give rise to a countable family of Noether–Lefschetz divisors {{\mathcal{C}}_{d}} in the moduli space {{\mathcal{C}}} of smooth cubic fourfolds. These divisors are irreducible 19-dimensional varieties birational to certain orthogonal modular varieties. We use the “low-weight cusp form trick” of Gritsenko, Hulek, and Sankaran to obtain information about the Kodaira dimension of {{\mathcal{C}}_{d}} . For example, if {d=6n+2} , then we show that {{\mathcal{C}}_{d}} is of general type for {n>18} , {n\notin\{20,21,25\}} ; it has nonnegative Kodaira dimension if {n>13} and {n\neq 15} . In combination with prior work of Hassett, Lai, and Nuer, our investigation leaves only twenty values of d for which no information on the Kodaira dimension of {{\mathcal{C}}_{d}} is known. We discuss some questions pertaining to the arithmetic of K3 surfaces raised by our results.

AbstractLet f be a Hecke cusp form of weight k for the full modular group, and let {\{\lambda_{f}(n)\}_{n\geq 1}} be the sequence of its normalized Fourier coefficients. Motivated by the problem of the first sign change of {\lambda_{f}(n)}, we investigate the range of x (in terms of k) for which there are cancellations in the sum {S_{f}(x)=\sum_{n\leq x}\lambda_{f}(n)}. We first show that {S_{f}(x)=o(x\log x)} implies that {\lambda_{f}(n)<0} for some {n\leq x}. We also prove that {S_{f}(x)=o(x\log x)} in the range {\log x/\log\log k\to\infty} assuming the Riemann hypothesis for {L(s,f)}, and furthermore that this range is best possible unconditionally. More precisely, we establish the existence of many Hecke cusp forms f of large weight k, for which {S_{f}(x)\gg_{A}x\log x}, when {x=(\log k)^{A}}. Our results are {\mathrm{GL}_{2}} analogues of work of Granville and Soundararajan for character sums, and could also be generalized to other families of automorphic forms.

Abstract We define an algebraic set in $23$-dimensional projective space whose ${{\mathbb{Q}}}$-rational points correspond to meromorphic, antisymmetric, paramodular Borcherds products. We know two lines inside this algebraic set. Some rational points on these lines give holomorphic Borcherds products and thus construct examples of Siegel modular forms on degree 2 paramodular groups. Weight $3$ examples provide antisymmetric canonical differential forms on Siegel modular three-folds. Weight $2$ is the minimal weight and these examples, via the paramodular conjecture, give evidence for the modularity of some rank 1 abelian surfaces defined over $\mathbb{Q}$.
