The yield and reaction kinetics of trapped electrons, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], in several ethylene glycol/D2O glasses have been studied from 6–72 K by pulse radiolysis. An increased D2O concentration is believed to increase the concentration of IR-traps thereby leading to a greater [Formula: see text] and to decrease the concentration of VIS-traps thereby increasing the stability of [Formula: see text]. The yield and stability of [Formula: see text] are also increased by lowering the temperature. A redetermination of [Formula: see text] (1.3 × 104 M−1 cm−1 at 1800 nm) confirms earlier values.

The reaction kinetics of amination of monomethoxylpoly (ethylene glycol) (mPEG) with melamine (MA) at the molar ratio of 1:1 was studied by FTIR. This amination reaction was carried out with potassium hydroxide as reaction catalyst under high-pressure conditions at different temperature (160 °C, 170 °C, 180 °C, and 190°C) for different time (2 h, 3 h, 4 h, 5 h and 6 h). A series of melamine aminated monomethoxylpoly (ethylene glycol) (MA-mPEG) were synthesized, and the long chain of polyethylene glycol ether was grafted on the amino groups of melamine by amination. The amination kinetics parameter of reaction order and the activation energy are about 1.5 and 45 KJ/mol, respectively. In addition, the grafting amination yield increased with the number average molecular weight of mPEG at the same reaction condition.

Operando spectroelectrochemical analysis is used to determine the water oxidation reaction kinetics for hematite photoanodes prepared using four different synthetic procedures. Whilst these photoanodes exhibit very different current / voltage performance, their underlying water oxidation kinetics are found to be almost invariant. Lower photoanode performance was found to correlate with the observation of optical signals indicative of charge accumulation in mid-gap oxygen vacancy states, indicating these states do not contribute directly to water oxidation.
