The surface chemistry of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesized from ethanol flame was investigated using FTIR, TG, XPS and TEM. It is found that the CNTs inherently have functional groups on their surfaces without any post-treatment. SEM results confirm that the pristine F-CNTs can be well dispersed in the polystyrene matrix.
