Due to the lack of realtime and accurate collection of status and position information of tools, the management of tools in a factory is always not efficient enough. In this paper, the architecture of RFID-enabled tool management system is proposed first, and a tool coding scheme based on EPCgloble is introduced later. RFID middleware for tool management with key features and its components are described afterwards. The system is developed on ASP.NET platform, and experiments show that the new tool management system improves the data collection and automation of tool management.

At present, the existing tool management system can’t track tool real-time state and information in the whole course of using. This paper puts forward a new kind of tool management system for optimizing the process of tool resource, which is managed based on the Web and two dimensional barcode technology. The whole life cycle of information for the tools is tracked and managed in this system, and finally realized the sharing

Tool management based on Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is important in settling the problems brought about by the machining of many kinds of productions in small scale. Through the research about tool management based on FMS, the flowing conclusions were concluded. The device configuration of tool management system based on FMS was provided, and the realization of tool coding was completed by use of flexible coding method. The information flow of tool and the function modules of the tool management system were investigated. The Tool management system was developed, the main functions were realized and some soft interface of tool management system was presented. Tool management system provides an efficient path to make system more flexible and improve the efficiency and quality of manufacturer.
