A novel three-dimensional coordination polymer, {[Pb(C14H8N2O4)(H2O)]·0.5C12H10N2}n, has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of Pb(OAc)2·3H2O (OAc is acetate), 2,2′-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dibenzoic acid (H2L) and 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethylene (bpe). The asymmetric unit contains a crystallographically independent PbIIcation, oneL2−ligand, an aqua ligand and half a bpe molecule. Each PbIIcentre is seven-coordinated by six O atoms of bridging–chelating carboxylate groups fromL2−ligands and by one O atom from a coordinated water molecule. The PbIIcations are bridged byL2−ligands, forming [PbO2]nchains along theaaxis. These chains are further connected byL2−ligands along thebandcaxes to give a three-dimensional framework with a 41263topology. The channel voids are occupied by bpe molecules.

The title compound, [CdNa2(C8H4O4)2(C3H7NO)(H2O)2]nor [CdNa2(1,3-bdc)2(DMF)(H2O)2]n, is a new CdII–NaIheterobimetallic coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit consists of one CdIIatom, two NaIatoms, two 1,3-bdc ligands, two coordinated water molecules and one coordinated DMF molecule. The CdIIatom exhibits a seven-coordinate geometry, while the NaIatoms can be considered to be pentacoordinate. The metal ions and their symmetry-related equivalents are connectedviachelating–bridging carboxylate groups of the 1,3-bdc ligands to generate a three-dimensional framework. In the crystal, there are classical O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water molecules and the 1,3-bdc carboxylate groups and π–π stacking between the benzene rings of the 1,3-bdc ligands present within the frameworks.

In poly[[μ3-2,2′-(disulfanediyl)dibenzoato-κ5 O:O,O′:O′′,O′′′](1,10-phenanthroline-κ2 N,N′)cadmium(II)], [Cd(C14H8O4S2)(C12H8N2)] n , the asymmetric unit contains one CdII cation, one 2,2′-(disulfanediyl)dibenzoate anion (denoted dtdb2−) and one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand (denoted phen). Each CdII centre is seven-coordinated by five O atoms of bridging/chelating carboxylate groups from three dtdb2− ligands and by two N atoms from one phen ligand, forming a distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry. The CdII cations are bridged by dtdb2− anions to give a two-dimensional (4,4) layer. The layers are stacked to generate a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture via a combination of aromatic C—H...π and π–π interactions. The thermogravimetric and luminescence properties of this compound were also investigated.

In the title mixed-ligand metal–organic polymeric complex [Cd(C14H8O6S)(C16H16N2)(H2O)]n, the asymmetric unit contains a crystallographically unique CdIIatom, one doubly deprotonated 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoic acid ligand (H2SDBA), one 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (TMPHEN) molecule and one water molecule. Each CdIIcentre is coordinated by two N atoms from the chelating TMPHEN ligand, three O atoms from monodentate carboxylate groups of three different SDBA2−ligands and one O atom from a coordinated water molecule, giving a distorted CdN2O4octahedral geometry. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the compound is a one-dimensional double-chain polymer containing 28-membered rings based on Cd2O2clusters, with a Cd...Cd separation of 3.6889 (4) Å. These chains are linked by O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional supramolecular framework. The framework is reinforced by π–π and C—O...π interactions.

The title compound, [Cd3(C8H10O4)3(C12H9N3)2(H2O)2]nor [Cd3(chdc)3(4-PyBIm)2(H2O)2]n, was synthesized hydrothermally from the reaction of Cd(CH3COO)2·2H2O with 2-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-benzimidazole (4-PyBIm) and cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (1,4-chdcH2). The asymmetric unit consists of one and a half CdIIcations, one 4-PyBIm ligand, one and a half 1,4-chdc2−ligands and one coordinated water molecule. The central CdIIcation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by six carboxylate O atoms from six 1,4-chdc2−ligands to complete an elongated octahedral coordination geometry. The two terminal rotationally symmetric CdIIcations each exhibits a distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry, coordinated by one N atom from 4-PyBIm, five O atoms from three 1,4-chdc2−ligands and one O atom from an aqua ligand. The 1,4-chdc2−ligands possess two conformations,i.e.e,e-trans-chdc2−ande,a-cis-chdc2−. Thecis-1,4-chdc2−ligands bridge the CdIIcations to form a trinuclear {Cd3}-based chain along thebaxis, while thetrans-1,4-chdc2−ligands further link adjacent one-dimensional chains to construct an interesting two-dimensional network.

The HoIII center in the title coordination polymer, {[Ho2(C4H4O4)3(H2O)2]·H2O} n , is nine-coordinated in a tricapped trigonal prism by eight O atoms, derived from six carboxylate groups and a water molecule. One of the independent succinate anions is located about a crystallographic center of inversion and the uncoordinated water molecule lies on a twofold axis. The crystal structure comprises edge-shared HoO9 polyhedra linked by succinate bridges, forming a three-dimensional network structure.

In the title coordination polymer, [Pb(C14H8N2O4)(CH3OH)2]n, the asymmetric unit contains half of a PbIIcation, half of a 2,2′-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dibenzoate dianionic ligand (denotedL2−) and one methanol ligand. Each PbIIcentre is eight-coordinated by six O atoms of chelating/bridging carboxylate groups from fourL2−ligands and two O atoms from two terminal methanol ligands, forming a distorted dodecahedron. The [PbL2(MeOH)2] subunits are interlinkedviathe sharing of two carboxylate O atoms to form a one-dimensional [PbL2(MeOH)2]nchain. Adjacent chains are further connected byL2−ligands, giving rise to a two-dimensional layer, and these layers are bridged byL2−linkers to afford a three-dimensional framework with a 41263topology.

The title CdIIcompound, {[Cd2(C13H7NO4)2(H2O)4]·5H2O}n, was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O and 5-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalic acid (H2L). The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent CdIIcations, two deprotonatedL2−ligands, four coordinated water molecules and five isolated water molecules. One of the CdIIcations adopts a six-coordinate octahedral coordination geometry involving three O atoms from one bidentate chelating and one monodentate carboxylate group of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. The second CdIIcation adopts a seven-coordinate pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry involving four O atoms from two bidentate chelating carboxylate groups of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. EachL2−ligand bridges three CdIIcations and, likewise, each CdIIcation connects to threeL2−ligands, giving rise to a two-dimensional graphite-like 63layer structure. These two-dimensional layers are further linked by O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The photoluminescence properties of the title compound were also investigated.

The title compound, {[Co3(C6H4NO2)2(C8H3NO6)2(H2O)2]·4H2O}n, exhibits a two-dimensional layer-like structure in which the CoIIions exhibit two kinds of coordination geometries. One nearly octahedral CoIIion with crystallographic inversion symmetry is coordinated to six carboxylate O atoms from four bridging 5-nitroisophthalate (NIPH) ligands and two isonicotinate (IN) anions, while the other type of CoIIion binds with one N atom and one carboxylate O atom from two IN anions, two carboxylate O atoms from two different NIPH anions and one ligated water molecule, displaying a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Three adjacent CoIIions are bridged by six carboxylate groups from four NIPH ligands and two IN anions to form a linear trinuclear secondary building unit (SBU). Every trinuclear SBU is linked to its nearest neighbours in theabplane, resulting in a two-dimensional layer-like structure perpendicular to thecaxis. Along thea-axis direction neighbouring molecules are connected through carboxylate and pyridyl units of the IN anions, along thebaxis through carboxylate groups of the NIPH ligands. The H atoms of one free water molecule are disordered in the crystal in a 1:1 ratio. Typical O—H...O hydrogen bonds are observed in the lattice, which include the following contacts: (a) between coordinated water molecules and carboxylate O atoms of the NIPH anions, (b) between lattice water molecules and carboxylate O atoms of the NIPH anions, and (c) between coordinated and lattice water molecules. These intermolecular hydrogen bonds connect the two-dimensional layers to form a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

In the title polymer, [Pb(C9H4O6)]n, the asymmetric unit contains a monomer of a PbIIcation with a doubly deprotonated 3-carboxybenzene-1,2-dicarboxylate dianion (1,2,3-Hbtc2−). Each PbIIcentre is seven-coordinated by seven O atoms of bridging carboxy/carboxylate groups from five 1,2,3-Hbtc2−ligands, forming a distorted pentagonal bipyramid. The PbIIcations are bridged by 1,2,3-Hbtc2−anions, yielding two-dimensional chiral layers. The layers are stacked above each other to generate a three-dimensional supramolecular architectureviaa combination of C—H...O interactions. The thermogravimetric and optical properties are also reported.

The title compound, {[Cd(C4H4O6)]·0.167H2O}n, adopts a three-dimensional network structure in which each CdIIion is chelated by two pairs of carboxylate and hydroxyl O atoms from two tartrate anions, and is additionally linked to two O atoms of two carboxylate groups that are not involved in chelation. The asymmetric unit has four independent cadmium atoms, two of which lie on special positions of 2 site symmetry. The tartrate anions all lie on general positions. All hydroxyl groups are engaged in O—H...O hydrogen-bonds, one of which is also bifurcated. The non-coordinating water molecule is situated on a site with half-occupation.
