VIVoxyfluorides are of interest as frustrated magnets. The successful synthesis of two-dimensionally connected vanadium(IV) oxyfluoride structures generally requires the use of ionic liquids as solvents. During solvothermal synthesis experiments aimed at producing two- and three-dimensional vanadium(IV) selenites with triangular lattices, the title compound, diaquatetra-μ-fluorido-dioxidodivanadium(IV) monohydrate, V2O2F4(H2O)2·H2O, was discovered and features a new infinite V4+-containing two-dimensional layer comprised of fluorine-bridged corner- and edge-sharing VOF4(H2O) octahedral building units. The synthesis was carried out under solvothermal conditions. The V4+centre exhibits a typical off-centring, with a short V=O bond and an elongatedtrans-V—F bond. Hydrogen-bonded water molecules occur between the layers. The structure is related to previously reported vanadium oxyfluoride structures, in particular, the same layer topology is seen in VOF3.

The crystal structures of the building block tetramethylammonium (2,2′-bipyridine-κ2N,N′)tetracyanidoferrate(III) trihydrate, [N(CH3)4][Fe(CN)4(C10H8N2)]·3H2O, (I), and a new two-dimensional cyanide-bridged bimetallic coordination polymer, poly[[(2,2′-bipyridine-κ2N,N′)di-μ2-cyanido-dicyanido(μ-ethylenediamine-κ2N:N′)(ethylenediamine-κ2N,N′)cadmium(II)iron(II)] monohydrate], [CdFe(CN)4(C10H8N2)(C2H8N2)2]·H2O, (II), are reported. In the crystal of (I), pairs of [Fe(2,2′-bipy)(CN)4]−units (2,2′-bipy is 2,2′-bipyridine) are linked together through π–π stacking between the pyridyl rings of the 2,2′-bipy ligands to form a graphite-like structure parallel to theabplane. The three independent water molecules are hydrogen-bonded alternately with each other, forming a ladder chain structure withR44(8) andR66(12) graph-set ring motifs, while the disordered [N(CH3)4]+cations lie above and below the water chains, and the packing is stabilized by weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds. The water chains are further linked with adjacent sheets into a three-dimensional networkviaO—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water molecules and the N atoms of terminal cyanide groups of the [Fe(2,2′-bipy)(CN)4]−building blocks, forming anR44(12) ring motif. Compound (II) features a two-dimensional {[Fe(2,2′-bipy)(CN)4Cd(en)2]}nlayer structure (en is ethylenediamine) extending parallel to (010) and constructed from {[Fe(2,2′-bipy)(CN)4Cd(en)]}nchains interlinked by bridging en ligands at the Cd atoms. Classical O—H...N and N—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water molecule and N atoms of terminal cyanide groups and the N—H groups of the en ligands are observed within the layers. The layers are further connectedviaπ–π stacking interactions between adjacent pyridine rings of the 2,2′-bipy ligands, completing a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

In the title compound, [Mn(C10H6O7)(C12H10N2)(H2O)2]nor [Mn(HOABDC)(bpe)(H2O)2]n[H3OABDC is 5-(carboxymethoxy)isophthalic acid and bpe is 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethylene], each MnIIcation is at the centre of a distorted octahedron formed by three carboxylate O atoms from three different HOABDC2−ligands, one pyridyl N atom from the terminal bpe ligand and two water molecules. The flexible oxyacetate group bound to a methylene C atom of the HOABDC2−ligand links the MnIIcentres into –Mn—O—C—O—Mn– chains, and the carboxylate group bound directly to the benzene ring extends the chains into two-dimensional layers which lie parallel to the (010) plane and present herringbone patterns. Intermolecular O—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen bonds connect the layers into a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

The title CdIIcompound, {[Cd2(C13H7NO4)2(H2O)4]·5H2O}n, was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O and 5-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalic acid (H2L). The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent CdIIcations, two deprotonatedL2−ligands, four coordinated water molecules and five isolated water molecules. One of the CdIIcations adopts a six-coordinate octahedral coordination geometry involving three O atoms from one bidentate chelating and one monodentate carboxylate group of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. The second CdIIcation adopts a seven-coordinate pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry involving four O atoms from two bidentate chelating carboxylate groups of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. EachL2−ligand bridges three CdIIcations and, likewise, each CdIIcation connects to threeL2−ligands, giving rise to a two-dimensional graphite-like 63layer structure. These two-dimensional layers are further linked by O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The photoluminescence properties of the title compound were also investigated.

The title hydrate, C13H10ClN3O·H2O, is the orthorhombic polymorph of the previously reported monoclinic compound [Fun et al. (2012). Acta Cryst. E68, o2303–o2304). In the title compound, the dihedral angle between the pyridine and benzene rings is 18.0 (2)°. In the crystal, the Schiff base molecules and water molecules are linked via O—H...O, N—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (001). In addition, the Schiff base molecules are linked end-to-end by weak C—H...Cl hydrogen along the c-axis direction, forming an overall three-dimensional network. Weak C—H...π interactions are also observed.

In the title compound, {[Ag2Fe(CN)4(H2O)2]·2C12H10N2}n, the asymmetric unit contains one FeIIcation, two water molecules, two dicyanidoargentate(I) anions and two uncoordinating 1,2-bis(pyridin-2-yl)ethylene (2,2′-bpe) molecules. Each FeIIatom is six-coordinated in a nearly regular octahedral geometry by four N atoms from dicyanidoargentate(I) bridges and two coordinating water molecules. The FeIIatoms are bridged by dicyanidoargentate(I) units to give a two-dimensional layer with square-grid spaces. The intergrid spaces with interlayer distance of 6.550 (2) Å are occupied by 2,2′-bpe guest molecules which form O—H...N hydrogen bonds to the host layers. This leads to an extended three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The structure of the title compound is compared with some related compounds containing dicyanidoargentate(I) ligands and N-donor organic co-ligands.

The title compound, C2H10N2 2+·2Cl−·2C12H8N2·4H2O, has an inversion centre located midway between the two C atoms of the ethylenediammonium cation. The 1,10-phenanthroline molecules stack along the a axis, and are linked by π–π stacking interactions to form one-dimensional chains. These are bridged by ethylenediammonium cations, via hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional supramolecular sheets parallel to the ac plane. Hydrogen bonds to chloride anions and water molecules connect these two-dimensional sheets, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

The title compound, {C3H12N2 2+·B5O8(OH)2−} n , has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of 1,3-diaminopropane acting as a template. The structure consists of two-dimensional polymeric sheets constructed from [B5O8(OH)]2− pentaborate anions. Adjacent borate sheets are linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional framework with channels running along one direction. The propane-1,3-diammonium cations lie within the channels, interacting with the framework through N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

AbstractBased on 2-(4-pyridyl)-terephthalate (H2pta) and oxalate ligands, two new lanthanide-containing coordination polymers (CPs), [Tb(pta)(C2O4)0.5(H2O)2)]·2H2O (1) and [Sm(pta)(C2O4)0.5(H2O)2)]·2H2O (2), have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The structures of both 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Infrared, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis data are also presented. The crystals of 1 and 2 exhibit isostructural layer-like networks, crystallizing in the triclinic space group P$‾{1}$. The layers are further stabilized and associated into 3D architectures through hydrogen bonding. Remarkably, the CPs 1 and 2 exhibit excellent water stability and remarkable thermostability with thermal decomposition temperatures of more than 420 °C.

The title compounds,catena-poly[[[bis[(R)-propane-1,2-diamine-κ2N,N′]copper(II)]-μ-cyanido-κ2N:C-[tris(cyanido-κC)(nitroso-κN)iron(III)]-μ-cyanido-κ2C:N] monohydrate], {[Cu(Lpn)2][Fe(CN)5(NO)]·H2O}n, (I), and poly[[hexa-μ-cyanido-κ12C:N-hexacyanido-κ6C-hexakis[(R)-propane-1,2-diamine-κ2N,N′]dichromium(III)tricopper(II)] pentahydrate], {[Cu(Lpn)2]3[Cr(CN)6]2·5H2O}n, (II) [where Lpn = (R)-propane-1,2-diamine, C3H10N2], are new chiral cyanide-bridged bimetallic coordination polymers. The asymmetric unit of compound (I) is composed of two independent cation–anion units of {[Cu(Lpn)2][Fe(CN)5)(NO)]} and two water molecules. The FeIIIatoms have distorted octahedral geometries, while the CuIIatoms can be considered to be pentacoordinate. In the crystal, however, the units align to form zigzag cyanide-bridged chains propagating along [101]. Hence, the CuIIatoms have distorted octahedral coordination spheres with extremely long semicoordination Cu—N(cyanido) bridging bonds. The chains are linked by O—H...N and N—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks parallel to (010), and the networks are linkedviaN—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. Compound (II) is a two-dimensional cyanide-bridged coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit is composed of two chiral {[Cu(Lpn)2][Cr(CN)6]}−anions bridged by a chiral [Cu(Lpn)2]2+cation and five water molecules of crystallization. Both the CrIIIatoms and the central CuIIatom have distorted octahedral geometries. The coordination spheres of the outer CuIIatoms of the asymmetric unit can be considered to be pentacoordinate. In the crystal, these units are bridged by long semicoordination Cu—N(cyanide) bridging bonds forming a two-dimensional network, hence these CuIIatoms now have distorted octahedral geometries. The networks, which lie parallel to (10-1), are linkedviaO—H...O, O—H...N, N—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds involving all five non-coordinating water molecules, the cyanide N atoms and the NH2groups of the Lpn ligands, forming a three-dimensional framework.
