This paper explores the radial projection method for locally finite planar point sets and provides numerical examples for different types of order. The main question is whether the method is suitable to analyse order in a quantitative way. The findings indicate that the answer is affirmative. In this context, local visibility conditions are also studied for certain types of aperiodic point sets.

In this paper we study a problem related to the classical Erdos--Szekeres Theorem on finding points in convex position in planar point sets. We study for which n and k there exists a number h(n,k) such that in every planar point set X of size h(n,k) or larger, no three points on a line, we can find n points forming a vertex set of a convex n-gon with at most k points of X in its interior. Recall that h(n,0) does not exist for n = 7 by a result of Horton. In this paper we prove the following results. First, using Horton's construction with no empty 7-gon we obtain that h(n,k) does not exist for k = 2(n+6)/4-n-3. Then we give some exact results for convex hexagons: every point set containing a convex hexagon contains a convex hexagon with at most seven points inside it, and any such set of at least 19 points contains a convex hexagon with at most five points inside it.

AbstractIn this article, some properties of neutrosophic derivative and neutrosophic numbers have been presented. This properties have been used to develop the neutrosophic differential calculus. By considering different types of first- and second-order derivatives, different kind of systems of derivatives have been developed. This is the first time where a second-order neutrosophic boundary-value problem has been introduced with different types of first- and second-order derivatives. Some numerical examples have been examined to explain different systems of neutrosophic differential equation.

Supply chain coordination models are developed in a two-echelon supply chain with double sided disruptions. In a supply chain system, the supplier may suffer from the product cost disruption and the retailer suffers from the demand disruption simultaneously. The purpose of this study is to design proper supply chain contracts, under which the supply chain with double sided disruption can be coordinated. Firstly, the centralized decision-making models are applied to find the optimal price and quantity under three cases as the baseline. The different cases are divided by the different relationship between the product cost disruption and the demand disruption. Secondly, two different types of contracts are introduced to coordinate the whole supply chain. One is all-unit wholesale quantity discount policy (AQDP) contract, and the other one is capacitated linear pricing policy (CLPP) contract. And it is found out that the gap between the demand disruption and the product cost disruption is the key factor to influence the supply chain coordination. Some numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are given to illustrate the models. The AQDP contracts are listed out under different cases to show how to use it under double sided disruptions.

Given a set of n points in the plane, we consider the problem of computing the circular ordering of the points about a viewpoint q and efficiently maintaining this ordering information as q moves. In linear space, and after O(n log n) preprocessing time, our solution maintains the view at a cost of O( log n) amortized time (resp.O( log 2 n) worst case time) for each change. Our algorithm can also be used to maintain the set of points sorted according to their distance to q .

News interviews play an important role in the way the formation of opinions. The details of this type of interaction have been studied quite recently by a number of scholars. In this study observational categories for evasive conversational behaviour, as proposed by these researchers, are applied to interviewees differing in gender and political activity. Its main question is: do interviewees of different gender and political commitment differ in their evasive reactions to questions? The data consist of 32 10-minute clips from interviews broadcast on Dutch TV or radio in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In the analysis, four different types of evasion were distinguished: 1 Evasion by changing the discourse roles. Interviewees can avoid answering questions by adopting behaviour typical of the interviewer role, such as posing counter questions, listening actively instead of speaking, or changing the agenda of the interview. 2 Evasion by playing with the rules for turn taking, for example, by interrupting the interviewer. 3 Evasion by couching the answer in avoiding terms or by being polite and indirect. 4 Evasion by questioning the question (its relevance, appropriateness or formulation), questioning a presupposition or giving a non-answer. Not surprisingly, the results show that politicians are more evasive than non-politicians. Less predictably, however, they also show that males are more evasive than females. The effect of gender is not as strong as that of political activity. When comparing male and female politicians, it turns out that both groups are often evasive, but make use of different means. Female non-politicians use evasions remarkably infrequently.
