In the title polymeric complex, {[FePt(CN)4(H2O)2]·2C3H6O} n , the FeII cation has an octahedral [FeN4O2] geometry being coordinated by two water molecules and four cyanide anions. The Pt cation is located on an inversion centre and has a square-planar coordination environment formed by four cyanide groups. The tetracyanoplatinate anions bridge the FeII cations to form infinite two-dimensional layers that propagate in the bc plane. Two guest molecules of acetone per FeII are located between the layers. These guest acetone molecules interact with the coordinated water molecules by O—H...O hydrogen bonds.

In the title polymeric complex, {[Fe(C12H10N2)2(H2O)4](CH3C6H4SO3)2·2CH3OH}n, the FeIIcation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by four water molecules in the equatorial positions and two 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules in the axial positions. This results in a distorted octahedral geometry for the [N2O4] coordination polyhedron. The 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules bridge the FeIIcations, forming polymeric chains running along thea-axis direction. Stabilization of the crystal structure is provided by O—H...O hydrogen bonds; these are formed by coordinated water molecules as donors towards the O atoms of the methanol molecules and tosylate anions as acceptors of protons, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular network. Weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds are also observed in the crystal.

In the title compound, [Er2(C4H4O4)3(H2O)2] n , the asymmetric unit consists of two ErIII cations, three succinate anions and two coordinated water molecules. Both ErIII ions are in a tricapped trigonal–prismatic coordination environment. The Er atoms are bridged into a three-dimensional framework by succinate anions, which exhibit anti and gauche conformations with different coordination modes. The crystal structure is stabilized by O—H...O hydrogen bonds [O...O = 2.715 (8)–2.936 (8) Å].

The title compound, cis-[PtCl2(CH3NH2)2], was obtained from the reaction of K2PtCl4 with CH3NH2·HCl and CH3COOK. The single-crystal structure has been reported previously [Wimmer, Wimmer, Jaud, Johnson & Castan (1988). Inorg. Chim. Acta, 144, 25–30], but no three-dimensional coordinates are available. We have carried out an ab initio crystal structure determination using X-ray powder diffraction techniques. The crystal structure consists of discrete molecules, with the PtII atom in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment. The methyl groups lie on the same side of the plane defined by the two N and two Cl atoms. Molecules are connected via intermolecular N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds to form two-dimensional layers perpendicular to the b axis. The methylamine groups protrude from these layers, forming organic interlayers.

The title compound bis(1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) di-μ-chlorido-bis[tetrachloridobismuthate(III)] dihydrate, (C6H14N2)2[Bi2Cl10]·2H2O, was obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature of a hydrochloric aqueous solution (pH = 1) containing bismuth(III) nitrate and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) in a 1:2 molar ratio. The structure displays a two-dimensional arrangement parallel to (100) of isolated [Bi2Cl10]4−bioctahedra (site symmetry -1) separated by layers of organic 1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane dications [(DABCOH2)2+] and water molecules. O—H...Cl, N—H...O and N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds lead to additional cohesion of the structure.

In the title compound, [PdCl2(C7H9NO)2], the Pd atom is situated on a crystallographic centre of inversion. The coordination environment of the Pd atom shows a slightly distorted square-planar geometry. The crystal structure exhibits weak intermolecular Pd...Cl interactions, with Pd...Cl distances of 3.6912 (6) Å. A chain-like arrangement of molecules realized by intermolecular N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds is observed along [010].

The title compound, [CdNa2(C8H4O4)2(C3H7NO)(H2O)2]nor [CdNa2(1,3-bdc)2(DMF)(H2O)2]n, is a new CdII–NaIheterobimetallic coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit consists of one CdIIatom, two NaIatoms, two 1,3-bdc ligands, two coordinated water molecules and one coordinated DMF molecule. The CdIIatom exhibits a seven-coordinate geometry, while the NaIatoms can be considered to be pentacoordinate. The metal ions and their symmetry-related equivalents are connectedviachelating–bridging carboxylate groups of the 1,3-bdc ligands to generate a three-dimensional framework. In the crystal, there are classical O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water molecules and the 1,3-bdc carboxylate groups and π–π stacking between the benzene rings of the 1,3-bdc ligands present within the frameworks.

In the title compound, [Tb(C2H3O2)2(C11H10N4)(H2O)2]NO3·H2O, the Tb3+ ion is nine-coordinated in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry by the three N atoms of the tridentate 1-(pyridin-2-ylmethylidene)-2-(pyridin-2-yl)hydrazine ligand, four carboxylate O atoms of two chelating acetate groups and two O atoms of the coordinating water molecules. The organic hydrazine ligand is disordered over two orientations with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.52 (3):0.48 (3). All bond lengths in the coordination environment of the Tb3+ ion are slightly larger than those observed in the isostructural Y3+ and Er3+ complexes. In the crystal, the complex cations are linked by pairs of O—H...O hydrogen bonds into dimers. These dimers, nitrate anions and non-coordinating water molecules are joined by O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.

In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Ni(C7H6FN2O2)2(H2O)2], the NiIIcation is in a slightly distorted octahedral environment and is surrounded by four O atoms from the N—O groups of the organic ligands [Ni—O = 2.0179 (13) and 2.0283 (12) Å], and two water molecules [Ni—O = 2.0967 (14) Å]. TheN-(2-fluorobenzyl)-N-nitrosohydroxylaminate monoanions act as bidentate chelating ligands. In the crystal, the Ni cations in the columns are shifted in such a way that the coordinated water molecules are involved in the formation of hydrogen bonds with the O atoms of the organic species of neighbouring molecules. Thus, a two-dimensional network parallel to (100) is built up by hydrogen-bonded molecules.

In the structure of the title compound, {[Cu2(C10H2O8)(H2O)6]·4H2O}n, the benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate ligand, (btec)4−, is located on a crystallographic inversion centre in a μ4-coordination mode. The coordination environment of each pentacoordinated CuIIcentre is square pyramidal (SBP), formed by three water molecules and two carboxylate O atoms from two different (btec)4−ligands. The completely deprotonated (btec)4−ligand coordinates in a monodentate mode to four CuIIatoms. The alternation of (btec)4−ligands and SBP CuIIcentres leads to the formation of a planar two-dimensional covalent network of parallelograms, parallel to theabplane. Hydrogen bonds between a basal water molecule and an apical one from an adjacent [Cu(btec)0.5(H2O)3] unit exist in the intralayer space. Hydrogen bonds are also present between the two-dimensional network and the water molecules filling the channels in the structure.

In the title complex, [Zn(C10H10N4)3](NO3)2, the six-coordinate ZnII atom lies at the intersection of three twofold axes in a slightly disorted octahedral coordination environment. The N atom of a nitrate anion is located on a threefold axis. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H...N and N—H...O hydrogen bonds between cations and anions form a two-dimensional network perpendicular to the c axis.
