- In the first part of the essay, after pointing out the need for an integrated work between social services and health-care services, the topic of planning and defining features, objectives and instruments is introduced. In the second part, referring to an empirical research recently made in Italy, Perino describes the role and functions of the sociologist of health in the processes of planning, with particular attention to critical and unsolved issues.
