The present paper is part of a broader study of the authors, consisting in the design of production systems layouts. In this paper is studied the influence of the supply method of an assembly line with mostly manual activities, in two hypotheses: mono-product and multi-product, supplied based on stock or synchronous, on its performances. The considered performance indicators are: the space needed for plant layout, the flexibility of the operator and an ergonomic indicator. These had been determined analytically or by 3D modeling of the assembly line. The obtained results show that, although the overall space of the system increases on the synchronous supply, the indicators for flexibility and ergonomics are significantly superior comparing to the ones from the supply based on stock.
