Automatic vehicle detection and counting are considered vital in improving traffic control and management. This work presents an effective algorithm for vehicle detection and counting in complex traffic scenes by combining both convolution neural network (CNN) and the optical flow feature tracking-based methods. In this algorithm, both the detection and tracking procedures have been linked together to get robust feature points that are updated regularly every fixed number of frames. The proposed algorithm detects moving vehicles based on a background subtraction method using CNN. Then, the vehicle’s robust features are refined and clustered by motion feature points analysis using a combined technique between KLT tracker and K-means clustering. Finally, an efficient strategy is presented using the detected and tracked points information to assign each vehicle label with its corresponding one in the vehicle’s trajectories and truly counted it. The proposed method is evaluated on videos representing challenging environments, and the experimental results showed an average detection and counting precision of 96.3% and 96.8%, respectively, which outperforms other existing approaches.

In this paper, a deep learning-based traffic state discrimination method is proposed to detect traffic congestion at urban intersections. The detection algorithm includes two parts, global speed detection and a traffic state discrimination algorithm. Firstly, the region of interest (ROI) is selected as the road intersection from the input image of the You Only Look Once (YOLO) v3 object detection algorithm for vehicle target detection. The Lucas-Kanade (LK) optical flow method is employed to calculate the vehicle speed. Then, the corresponding intersection state can be obtained based on the vehicle speed and the discrimination algorithm. The detection of the vehicle takes the position information obtained by YOLOv3 as the input of the LK optical flow algorithm and forms an optical flow vector to complete the vehicle speed detection. Experimental results show that the detection algorithm can detect the vehicle speed and traffic state discrimination method can judge the traffic state accurately, which has a strong anti-interference ability and meets the practical application requirements.

Aiming at analyzing the temporal structures in evolutionary networks, we propose a community detection algorithm based on graph representation learning. The proposed algorithm employs a Laplacian matrix to obtain the node relationship information of the directly connected edges of the network structure at the previous time slice, the deep sparse autoencoder learns to represent the network structure under the current time slice, and the K-means clustering algorithm is used to partition the low-dimensional feature matrix of the network structure under the current time slice into communities. Experiments on three real datasets show that the proposed algorithm outperformed the baselines regarding effectiveness and feasibility.

As the precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, traditional costumes are in urgent need of scientific research and protection. In particular, there are scanty studies on costume silhouettes, due to the reasons of the need for cultural relic protection, and the strong subjectivity of manual measurement, which limit the accuracy of quantitative research. This paper presents an automatic measurement method for traditional Chinese costume dimensions based on fuzzy C-means clustering and silhouette feature point location. The method is consisted of six steps: (1) costume image acquisition; (2) costume image preprocessing; (3) color space transformation; (4) object clustering segmentation; (5) costume silhouette feature point location; and (6) costume measurement. First, the relative total variation model was used to obtain the environmental robustness and costume color adaptability. Second, the FCM clustering algorithm was used to implement image segmentation to extract the outer silhouette of the costume. Finally, automatic measurement of costume silhouette was achieved by locating its feature points. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method could effectively segment the outer silhouette of a costume image and locate the feature points of the silhouette. The measurement accuracy could meet the requirements of industrial application, thus providing the dual value of costume culture research and industrial application.
