The possibility to use multi-wavelength regime of total stations operation for making surveys under heavy aerosol atmosphere pollution is researched. The actuality of single- and multi-wavelength regimes rational choice under heavy aerosol atmosphere pollution is grounded. The task on researching the matter of operational regime choice for total stations is formulated. The method for solution of the formulated task is suggested. The theoretical modelling and experimental researches are held to formulate the criterion for choice of single- or multi-wavelength regimes. The practical recommendations for such a choice are formulated. The practical recommendations are formulated for choice of measurements regime. According to formulated recommendations if a single-wavelength total station operates in the field of longer wavelengths (R) of visible band and a three-wavelengths one operates with bias to shorter (B, G, R) wavelengths, the single-wavelength total station should be preferred. But if the single-wavelength total station operates in the field of shorter wavelengths (B) and the three-wavelengths one operates with bias to longer wavelengths (B, G, R) then the multi-wavelengths total station should be preferred. The recommendation described in this article are relevant for both the regimes of measurements with- and without reflector and can be useful for users of total stations.

Nitrogen oxides are considered to be much more toxic than, for example, carbon monoxide. For this reason, the Authors developed and implemented a method for decrease of NOX emission into the atmosphere from DKVR 10-13 boilers. As an effective method for boilers propose injection of steam into the combustion zone. After series of experimental studies an optimal design of the head for steam injection was developed, according to the proprietary technology. The injector head was kept unchanged while the spraying end caps were modified (Fig. 2). Three levels of possible impact of emissions from boiler on the atmosphere pollution were taken into account during studies. After the analysis, it was assumed that the level of the real maximum emission should be taken as the reference level in relation to which the decrease of NOX emission should be determined. The results obtained by the Authors calculated into mass emission and as objective values of nitrogen oxides concentration calculated into α = 1 (Figures 3 and 4). Realization of the study plan, assumed by the Authors, allowed to determine the optimal parameters of the NOx emission decrease method, assuming the expected 30% level of emission decrease at a limited consumption of injected.

Eutrophic lakes display unpredictable patterns of phytoplankton growth, distribution, vertical and horizontal migration, likely depending on environmental conditions. Monitoring chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentration provides reliable information on the dynamics of primary producers if monitoring is conducted frequently. We present a practical approach that allows continuous monitoring of Chl-a concentration by using a radiometric system that measures optical spectral properties of water. We tested this method in a shallow, nutrient-rich lake in northern Italy, the Mantua Superior Lake, where the radiometric system collected data all throughout the day (i.e. every 5 min) for ~30 days. Here, specifically developed algorithms were used to convert water reflectance to Chl-a concentration. The best performing algorithm (R2 = 0.863) was applied to a larger dataset collected in September 2011. We characterised intra- and inter-daily Chl-a concentration dynamics and observed a high variability; during a single day, Chl-a concentration varied from 20 to 130 mg m–3. Values of Chl-a concentration were correlated with meteo-climatic parameters, showing that solar radiance and wind speed are key factors regulating the daily phytoplankton growth and dynamics. Such patterns are usually determined by vertical migration of different phytoplankton species within the water column, as well as by metabolic adaptations to changes in light conditions.

Heavy metals and atmosphere pollutants that caused the soil pollution and low air quality are main environmental problems in cities which located in the industrialized regions. Different tree species in urban forest ecosystem have absorption ability to heavy metals in the soil and atmosphere pollutant and ameliorate environmental pollution. However, the influence of different tree species on the absorption ability of different pollutant is not yet clear, and this held up selection suitable tree species in urban forest plantations to improve urban environment. In the study we compered pollution absorption ability of 13 tree species in Shenyang, Northeast China. The results showed that, the adsorption capacity of different tree species on pollutants are different. The highest value of Cu was 9.32 mg kg-1 found in Berberisthumbergii cv. Atropurpurea, Zn was 51.461 mg kg-1 in Pinus bungeana, Pb was 7.459 mg kg-1 in Malus pumila Mill, Cr was 9.841 mg kg-1 in Buxus microphylla, S was 8916.07 mg kg-1 in Salix babylonica, Zn was 4678.388 mg kg-1 in Buxus microphylla. Pollutant concentrations in the same plant species are different in 3 different sample sites. This indicate the contaminated degree of 3 sample sites were different. In our study, Huigong square pollution degree is serious than the Beiling Park and Huishan ecological park. Significant correlation was found between Cu and Cr, Cu and Cl, S and Zn, Cr and Cl (P<0.01) and that between Cu and Zn, Cu and Pb at 0.05 level. The relationship between heavy metals and atmosphere pollutant (S and Cl) indicated that traffic activities could be one of the dominant roles of heavy metal and atmosphere pollution in Shenyang City.
