The article focuses on the topic of sharing food using digital platforms (websites, social media, mobile applications). These activities have been on the rise in Czechia since 2015 and are, therefore, a new and dynamic phenomenon. Digital sharing can make a significant contribution to reducing food waste and making the most of existing resources. First, we will briefly introduce the initiatives in Czechia and then we will focus on those for which the digital form is crucial. Based on semi-structured interviews with the organizers of selected sharing platforms, we will answer what motivations people in Czechia must have to establish these initiatives. We will also show that there is a difference in approach to the topic of food waste and sustainable food consumption between initiators and platform users. While the organizers are usually strongly aware of the need to address the environmental problem of waste, users show so-called quiet sustainability, where they act in an environmentally friendly way without their primary motivation.

Biogas is the product of anaerobic vitiation of biodegradable matter. This paper focuses on the need of alternative and green sources of energy at a household level and how biogas produced from the everyday organic waste has the potential and possibility to replace LPG cylinders at houses, shops etc. and empower us to step towards an eco-friendly future. The purpose this small-scale experiment has been to find the perfect input matter that is easy to acquire and which produces the maximum amount of gas from minimum input and within small period of waste retention. Four different types of input waste material containing different quantities of cow dung and kitchen food waste were studied through individual experimental setups. Waste was mixed and kept at room temperature and the pH and total solid concentration of the samples were recorded on regular intervals. From the experiment it was found that the optimum yield of biogas at a small scale, based on the parameters such as retention period, pH and total solid con-centration can be obtained by the use of food waste form households and kitchens. The exact composition has been discussed in this paper. The energy generated by the small-scale generator has also been compared to that of an LPG cylinder and an LPG replacement model has also been presented.

Driving with brady-tachy syndrome is one of the main causes of car accidents. In order to prevent drivers from brady-tachy driving, there is a strong demand for driver monitoring systems. Other than problems in driving attitudes and skills, road accidents are also caused by uncontrollable factors such as medical conditions and drowsiness. These factors can be avoided by having early detection. Therefore, the brady-tachy heart automotive so-called BT-Heartomotive device is developed. This BT-Heartomotive device can detect early signs of drowsiness and health problems by measuring the heart rate of the drivers during driving. The device also could use the data to send an alert to the passengers that they’re in precaution. The device shows a good accuracy in the detection of the heart rate level. The device comprised three main components; wristband, monitor and integrated mobile applications. Heart rate measurement can reveal a lot about the physical conditions of an individual. The BT-Heartomotive device is simple, easy to use and automated.
