The energy and entropy, expressed in free energy, determine the behavior of a system. Therefore, infinite knowledge of these two quantities leads to precise prediction of the system's trajectories. Here, we study how the energy and entropy affect the distribution of a two-component system in a box. First, using a model, we intuitively show that large particles prefer to position at contact with the wall as it accompanies an increase of the system's entropy. We intuitively show that this is a consequence of maximizing the accessible states for fluctuating degrees of freedom as a portion of excluded volumes reside outside of the box when they locate near the wall. Then we employ molecular dynamics simulations to extract the effect of entropy and energy on the binary mixture distribution and how they compete with each other to determine the system's configuration. While particle-particle and particle-wall attraction energies affect the distribution of particles, we show that the emergent entropic forces --- quasi-gravitational --- have a significant contribution to the configuration of the system. This system is realized clearly for a binary mixture of hard spheres in a box with reflective walls.

The electrical and electromechanical responses of ~200 µm thick extruded nanocomposite films comprising of 4 wt.% and 5 wt.% multiwall carbon nanotubes mixed with polypropylene are investigated under an alternating current (AC) and compared to their direct current (DC) response. The AC electrical response to frequency (f) and strain (piezoimpedance) is characterized using two configurations, namely one that promotes resistive dominance (resistive configuration) and the other that promotes the permittivity/capacitive contribution (dielectric configuration). For the resistive configuration, the frequency response indicated a resistive–capacitive (RC) behavior (negative phase angle, θ), with a significant contribution of capacitance for frequencies of 104 Hz and above, depending on the nanotube content. The piezoimpedance characterization in the resistive configuration yielded an increasing impedance modulus (|Z|) and an increasing (negative) value of θ as the strain increased. The piezoimpedance sensitivity at f = 10 kHz was ~30% higher than the corresponding DC piezoresistive sensitivity, yielding a sensitivity factor of 9.9 for |Z| and a higher sensitivity factor (~12.7) for θ. The dielectric configuration enhanced the permittivity contribution to impedance, but it was the least sensitive to strain.

The value of home gardens has become more apparent among tenants forced into isolation in difficult and uncertain times arising since the COVID-19 pandemic started at the beginning of 2020. While gardens make a significant contribution to the social and ecological environment of cities, most studies have focused on public green spaces. Investigating householder preferences for gardens during and after the mandatory lockdown period in the UAE is required. The main objective of this study is to analyze the householder’s attitude, preferences, and willingness to have home gardens during the pandemic and after. The data were collected via an online survey of randomly selected respondents. A logistic econometrical model was utilized to analyze the factors affecting respondent preferences regarding having a garden. According to the results, the probability of having a garden increases among respondents who produce some crops, have attained Msc/PhD. level, a backyard, and a larger space to cultivate. It decreases among those who are married, find it hard to take care of a garden, and face a weed problem. In conclusions, it is highly recommended for householders to have home gardens, which can provide a quality lifestyle and enhance leisure time during the pandemic and after.

Linear interaction analysis (LIA) is routinely used to study the shock–turbulence interaction in supersonic and hypersonic flows. It is based on the inviscid interaction of elementary Kovásznay modes with a shock discontinuity. LIA neglects nonlinear effects, and hence it is limited to small-amplitude disturbances. In this work, we extend the LIA framework to study the fundamental interaction of a two-dimensional vorticity wave with a normal shock. The predictions from a weakly nonlinear framework are compared with high-order accurate numerical simulations over a range of wave amplitudes ( $\epsilon$ ), incidence angles ( $\alpha$ ) and shock-upstream Mach numbers ( $M_1$ ). It is found that the nonlinear generation of vorticity at the shock has a significant contribution from the intermodal interaction between vorticity and acoustic waves. Vorticity generation is also strongly influenced by the curvature of the normal shock wave, especially for high incidence angles. Further, the weakly nonlinear analysis is able to predict the correct scaling of the nonlinear effects observed in the numerical simulations. The analysis also predicts a Mach number dependent limit for the validity of LIA in terms of the maximum possible amplitude of the upstream vorticity wave.

This paper presents deterioration level estimation based on convolutional neural networks using a confidence-aware attention mechanism for infrastructure inspection. Spatial attention mechanisms try to highlight the important regions in feature maps for estimation by using an attention map. The attention mechanism using an effective attention map can improve feature maps. However, the conventional attention mechanisms have a problem as they fail to highlight important regions for estimation when an ineffective attention map is mistakenly used. To solve the above problem, this paper introduces the confidence-aware attention mechanism that reduces the effect of ineffective attention maps by considering the confidence corresponding to the attention map. The confidence is calculated from the entropy of the estimated class probabilities when generating the attention map. Because the proposed method can effectively utilize the attention map by considering the confidence, it can focus more on the important regions in the final estimation. This is the most significant contribution of this paper. The experimental results using images from actual infrastructure inspections confirm the performance improvement of the proposed method in estimating the deterioration level.


While there has been a plethora of work on Arab women writers, little attention has been paid to Kuwaiti women writers, especially those who write Anglophone literature. This research paper argues that the choice to write in English rather than Arabic leaves these writers in a problematic position. As a result of embracing the English language, rather than their mother tongue, they are left outside of the dominant literary circle and often marginalized. Through a literary analysis, this paper presents some of the texts written by contemporary Kuwaiti writers who have chosen to write in English, and have produced nuanced narratives of Kuwaiti women who find agency and self-expression through their fictional journeys. These journeys explore themes of agency, voice, and trauma. A significant contribution of the present paper lies in a thematic analysis of lesser-known Kuwaiti texts in order to excavate these marginalized voices. The findings suggest that by choosing to write in English, these writers face the dangers of being dismissed from the literary canon, just like their protagonists must contend with society’s discrimination and expectations.

Esports are the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions and an area that develops and attracts attention day by day. However, cyberbullying, briefly defined as a user deliberately and repeatedly doing acts of threat, humiliation, and fooling into another user in cyber environments, is seen as a danger for players and esports. This study is expected to contribute to the literature by dealing with the concepts of esports and cyberbullying and to shed light on both academicians and practitioners about cyberbullying behaviors, types, potential risks, and precautions in esports business. Esports can make a significant contribution to promoting digital citizenship skills, as it contributes to the development of community awareness of cyberbullying that is necessary not only for the players but also for the whole society and esports business.

Ardhe-e-Quran (The Land and Nation in the Quran) is one of the major parts of Quranic studies which means the description of those lands or nations in the Quran which have been traveled and observed. The Shariah scholars of the Muslim world whether classical or contemporary have made these observations of “Ardhe-e-Quran”.  In this regard, the scholars of India have also made a significant contribution. Travel of the pass-outs of Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom Haqqania to these places and cities is also a part of this series. Especially Maulana Sher Ali Shah has lived in Arab countries and then he has made a regular journey to these places mentioned in the Qur'an. He observed Qur'anic places from Baitullah to Baitul Muqaddas.His travelogues, especially regarding Syria, contain useful information. The land of Syria is the blessed land, here is Jerusalem, in which Allah Almighty has created spiritual and spiritual charm when Maulana Dr. Sher Ali Shah visited this blessed city. He toured the city and observed the Quranic places. Maulana Dr. Sher Ali Shah went on Hajj by land on foot in 1966. After receiving permission from the embassies of Iran, Jordan, and Iraq, he reached Haramain on his way. After entering Iraq on January 2, 1967, he arrived in Baghdad, stayed there, and toured historical sites, then went to Jerusalem and observed the holy places there. The golden impressions of this journey, the observations of the historical places and the details of Hajj he has written under the title of “Chand din Masjid Aqsa ki Fidhaon me (A few days in spiritual surroundings of Al-Aqsa Mosque)" and "In the luminous surroundings of the Harmain". In these journeys, He also observed the land of the Qur'an and the holy places, besides ancient libraries and Makhtootat. Maulana Dr. Saeed-ul-Haq Jadoon and Mufti Bakht Shaid have written a two-volume book on the life and services of Maulana Sher Ali Shah Madani entitled "Maulana Sher Ali Madani: Life and services”. In this book, Maulana Dr. Saeed-ul-Haq Jadoon has written a separate chapter on the “Observations and research on Ardh-e-Quran by Dr. Sher Ali Shah”. In which Maulana Sher Ali Shah Madani has given a detailed discussion on these observations. In this regard, the researcher has intended to enlighten his analytical study on the topic of Ardh-e-Quran.

Kazakhstan makes a significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in the Olympic games and as such, there is an urgent direction to study the prospects for the development of the educational services market and conduct research on consumers of educational services. The purpose of our study was to study and analyze the activities for the organization and implementation of work, related to the massive introduction of the ideas of Olympism and Olympic education in the daily life of both Kazakhstani specialists in the field of physical culture and sports, and the entire sports community. The study collected data through a survey involving 347 respondents working in the field of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Data was analyzed using percentages and content analysis. From the study, it was concluded that Olympic movement and Olympic education make the younger generation much smarter, more humane, more aesthetic and more tolerant.   Keywords: Education; Olympic; physical culture ; sports; Olympic movement.

The effects of parameters on nanoscale titanium nitride during the formation process in ferrite were studied via the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The formation of titanium nitride was executed by employing a dislocation-motivated formation model in which the atomic diffusion has a significant contribution. The roles of N/Ti atom ratio, temperature and matrix defect were identified and the according nitride formation property was analyzed.
