The purpose of this article was to present a case report of 11–year old female patient with a large osteolytic mandibular lesion which healed after
endodontic treatment. The patient was referred for radio diagnostics due to an incidental finding of a large osteolytic lesion of the area of the left
lower first and second premolars in the panoramic radiograph taken before orthodontic treatment. CBCT was performed and the patient asked to
have teeth 33-35 treated by endodontics before surgery. The patient missed the surgical appointment and when she reappeared several months later,
the lesion showed signs of healing thus surgery were aborted. The presented case testifies to the observation that even large osteolytic lesions can
heal after endodontic treatment without surgical approach.
Middle aortic syndrome (MAS) is a rare disease characterized by distal thoracic aorta or abdominal aorta coarctation, and thoraco-abdominal aortic bypass grafting is an effective treatment for this condition. However, significant trauma is associated with the conventional surgical approach. We report a 26-year-old woman with MAS who presented with hypertension and needed thoraco-abdominal bypass grafting. In this operation, we adopted the endoscopic technique to improve the conventional surgical approach (reduce the incision). This case report shows that it is safe and feasible to use an endoscopic technique to reduce the trauma during this kind of operation, and provides a reference for similar treatments.
AbstractRadicular fractures in permanent teeth are uncommon injuries among dental traumas, being only 0.5 - 7% of the cases. Horizontal root fractures can be managed endodontically or combined endodontic and surgical approach. Treatment varies according to the displacement and vitality of the fragments. This paper presents a case report of two cases of horizontal root fracture, present between the middle and apical third of central incisors, which were managed by combined endodontic and surgical approach, while in second case it was followed by PRF placement to facilitate osteoinduction and periodontal tissue regeneration.
Varicocele is the main cause of male infertility. Treatment stops continuous damage to spermatogenesis, thereby potentially improving fertility. Among all the available procedures, the antegrade scrotal sclerotherapy (ASS), a combined radiological-surgical approach first introduced by Tauber, is gaining more popularity due to its minimal invasiveness. We report the case of a 35-year-old man who was subjected to a colonic resection after antegrade scrotal sclerotherapy for varicocele. The procedure was necessary due to the embolization of venous anastomosis between the spermatic and mesenteric veins, which were not detectable at the preoperative phlebography.
