This article focuses on various features of a finite element analysis (FEA) program designed by IDIADA, a Barcelona-based company providing design, engineering, testing, and homologation services to the automotive industry. The program has been designed as a solution to the problem of squeaks and rattles in an automobile. FEA software used by engineers from automotive testing company IDIADA detects potential automotive noise. The company uses Abaqus Unified Finite Element Analysis from Dassault Systèmes’ brand Simulia. The team delivered a paper at the Simulia Customer Conference in Barcelona in May 2011 to present the latest improvements in their methodology, applied to rattle in a car instrument panel and correlated with real-world testing. Research has shown that a standard noise-and-vibration analysis method alone can’t model, or predict, the contact that will result in a rattle. The engineers need to come up with a simulation that can accommodate both frequency for noise and vibration and contact for squeak and rattle.

The purpose of this study was to determinate , using the Finite Element Analysis Method, the mechanical stress in a solid body , temporary molar restored with the self-curing GC material. The originality of our study consisted in using an accurate structural model and applying a concentrated force and a uniformly distributed pressure. Molar structure was meshed in a Solid Type 45 and the output data were obtained using the ANSYS software. The practical predictions can be made about the behavior of different restorations materials.

Abstract This paper reports on the application of Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) technique in vibration measurement of turbine blading. Using the time-averaged mode of ESPI, the first six modes of a turbocharger blade with airfoil profile were identified. The effect of the complicated profile of the blade was established by studying simplified model blades. Coupled modes were identified and successfully separated. Experimental results are compared with those obtained using finite element analysis.

To analyse the road-header rack and pinion by using the finite element analysis software COSMOS/WORKS. Compared to the traditional analytic calculation and numerical analysis method, it is more intuitively get 28 ° pressure angle spur gear rack meshing stress and strain distribution, which can rack and pinion improvements designed to provide scientific reference.

With the continuous development of urban construction projects in HebeiProvince, the rise and development of high-rise buildings and undergroundengineering, the design and research of foundation pit support structure has become more and more important. The design of the foundation pit support structure directly affects the settlement and position changes of the building itself and the surrounding stratum. In this paper, the characteristics of foundation pit support are analyzed, and the related theories of finite element analysis method are introduced. Combined with the actual situation of Hebei Province, the finite element analysis method is used to simulate the construction method of foundation pile anchor support structure system. The design was analyzed and studied.

Shakedown is a cyclic phenomenon, and for its analysis it seems natural to employ a cyclic analysis method. Two problems are associated when this direct approach is used in finite element analysis. Firstly, the analysis typically needs to be stabilized over several cycles, and the analysis of each individual cycle may need a considerable amount of computing time. Secondly, even in cases where a stable cycle is known to exist, the finite element analysis can show a small continuing amount of strain accumulation. For elastic shakedown, non-cyclic analysis methods that use Melan’s theorem have been proposed. The present paper extends non-cyclic lower bound methods to the analysis of plastic shakedown. The proposed method is demonstrated with several example problems.
