ArgumentThis paper investigates the conceptual treatment and mathematical modeling of force in Newton's Principia. It argues that, contrary to currently dominant views, Newton's concept of force is best understood as a physico-mathematical construct with theoretical underpinnings rather than a “mathematical construct” or an ontologically “neutral” concept. It uses various philosophical and historical frameworks to clarify interdisciplinary issues in the history of science and draws upon the distinction between axiomatic systems in mathematics and physics, as well as discovery patterns in science. It also dwells on Newton's “philosophy” of mathematics, described here in terms of mathematical naturalism. This philosophy considers mathematical quantities to be physically significant quantities whose motions are best mapped by geometry. It then shows that to understand the epistemic status of force in the Principia, it is important to scrutinize both Newton's mathematical justificatory strategies and his background assumptions about force – without constructing, however, an overarching metaphysical framework for his science. Finally, the paper studies scientific attempts to redefine or eliminate force from science during the period between Newton and Laplace. From a philosophical standpoint, the paper implicitly suggests that questions about the reality of force be distinguished from questions about the validity of force, and that both sets of questions be distinguished from questions about the utility of the concept of force in science.

Aim. Evaluate the effectiveness of the developed new approach to the analysis of the activity of the epidemic process and the effectiveness of the prevention of parasitic diseases, based on a multi-level monitoring system. Materials and methods. The data of official statistical observation for 2010-2016 are analyzed for all subjects of the Russian Federation. To search for the regularities in large volumes of data, Data Mining is used. Results. The analysis made it possible to characterize the activity of the epidemic process of parasitic diseases in the territory of Russia. Application of methods of mathematical modeling allowed to form a prognosis of morbidity/affection by the results of sanitary-parasitological studies. The regions in which the inadequate quality of sanitary-parasitological studies led to discrepancies between actual and predicted lesions were identified. Conclusion. The conducted study made it possible to establish that the developed approach is effective for assessing the activity of the epidemic process and the effectiveness of preventing parasitic diseases, structuring statistical information by regions and nosologies, identifying trends in morbidity, and developing regional prevention programs.

Abstract The paper presents a new approach of designing optimal wheel drive systems which improve considerably vehicle properties; including traction and velocity properties, fuel consumption, turnability, and ride stability. This approach creates the basis for synthesizing optimal circumferential wheel forces needed for designing optimum wheel drive systems for a particular vehicle. At the beginning the optimum circumferential wheel forces should first be computed. These forces correspond to the optimum values of vehicle properties’ criteria simultaneously taken in aggregate with the required vehicle kinematics. A single criterion optimization with limitation of the rest of criteria and limitation of optimized parameters is being presented. The objective function is being built for vehicles transporting a useful load. All these theoretical developments are followed by the results of the mathematical modeling and computer simulation of an 8WD vehicle. The modeling and simulation are based on a previously developed algorithm for the optimization of the circumferential forces among the drive wheels (see [8]).

AbstractA work on a mathematical modeling is very popular in applied sciences. Nowadays many mathematical models have been considered and new methods have been used for approaching of these models. In this paper we are considering mathematical modeling of nuclear family model with fractional order Caputo derivative. Also the existence and uniqueness results and numerical scheme are given with Adams-Bashforth scheme via fractional order Caputo derivative.
