This paper provides information on a self-consistent model of an anomalously slow relaxation of nonwetting liquid–nanoporous medium systems with a random size distribution of pores, which introduces changes in interaction between local liquid cluster configurations in the process of liquid outflow from the porous medium. A self-consistent equation was deduced, the solution of which determines a functional connection of porous medium filling degree or time [Formula: see text]. It is shown that the anomalously slow relaxation is presented as a process of decay of interacting local metastable configurations, initialized by thermal fluctuations. As time increments, relaxation acceleration takes place with subsequent avalanche fluid outflow from the porous medium, which is connected with interaction decrease between local configurations. The dependence of the fraction of volume of liquid remaining in a porous medium changes by the power law [Formula: see text]. It is shown that for a system of water–L23 at the initial stage in the time range of [Formula: see text], an index assumes a constant value [Formula: see text], while at the following stage the acceleration of relaxation and the increase of parameter [Formula: see text] are observed.

ABSTRACTResearchers have shown that thin, nonwetting, liquid homopolymer films dewet substrates, forming patterns that reflect fluctuations in the local film thickness. These patterns have been shown to be either discrete cylindrical holes or bicontinuous “spinodal-like” patterns. In this paper we show the existence of a new morphology. During the early stage of dewetting, discrete highly asymmetric holes appear spontaneously throughout the film. The nucleation rate of these holes is faster than their growth rate. The morphology of the late stage of evolution, after 18 days, is characterized by a bicontinuous pattern, distinct form conventional spinodal dewetting patterns. This morphology has been observed for a range of film thicknesses between 7.5 and 21nm. The structural evolution of this intermediate morphology is discussed.

Three radical cation salts of BDH-TTP with the paramagnetic [ReF6]2− and diamagnetic [ReO4]− anions have been synthesized: κ-(BDH-TTP)4ReF6 (1), κ-(BDH-TTP)4ReF6·4.8H2O (2) and pseudo-κ″-(BDH-TTP)3(ReO4)2 (3). The crystal and band structures, as well as the conducting properties of the salts, have been studied. The structures of the three salts are layered and characterized by alternating κ-(1, 2) and κ″-(3) type organic radical cation layers with inorganic anion sheets. Similar to other κ-salts, the conducting layers in the crystals of 1 and 2 are formed by BDH-TTP dimers. The partial population of positions of Re atoms and disorder in the anionic layers of 1–3 are their distinctive features. Compounds 1 and 2 show the metallic character of conductivity down to low temperatures, while 3 is a semiconductor. The ac susceptibility of crystals 1 was investigated in order to test the possible slow relaxation of magnetization associated with the [ReF6]2− anion.

ABSTRACTThe relaxation of polyimid films after the axial tension has been investigated by measuring life-time of positrons and angular correlation of annihilation photons. The nonmonotonic change of mean life-time while relaxing the free film has been found. Two range of changes of positron-sensitive properties can be seen: “rapid” relaxation for 4–5 hours (characterized by reducing life-time of short-lived component) and “slow” relaxation (characterized by reducing the intensity of long-lived component). The results of this investigation have been compared with those of measuring of sample density and dielectric losses. The possible explanations and the- changes of mechanizms of relaxation with the conditions of deformation and “the rest” of polymers are analyzed.
