We update the well-known BLNY fit to the low transverse momentum Drell–Yan lepton pair productions in hadronic collisions, by considering the constraints from the semi-inclusive hadron production in deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) from HERMES and COMPASS experiments. We follow the Collins–Soper–Sterman (CSS) formalism with the [Formula: see text]-prescription. A nonperturbative form factor associated with the transverse momentum dependent quark distributions is found in the analysis with a new functional form different from that of BLNY. This releases the tension between the BLNY fit to the Drell–Yan data with the SIDIS data from HERMES/COMPASS in the CSS resummation formalism.

In this talk, we presented our recent studies of the QCD evolution effects on the transverse momentum dependent observables in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering and Drell-Yan lepton pair productions. The evolution is first tested for the spin average cross sections, and then applied to the Sivers single transverse spin asymmetries. The latter are among the important topics in hadronic physics research in recent years.

Unpolarised semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering is receiving a growing interest as a powerful tool to access poorly known transverse momentum dependent parton distributions and fragmentation functions that play a key role in many processes, in particular in the study of the spin structure of the nucleon. These functions can be investigated through experimental observables. New results on these observables by the COMPASS experiment at CERN will be shown and discussed.

In this talk, we present our recent work about QCD evolution effect on the transverse momentum dependent(TMD) observables for collins asymmetries in e+e- annihilation to di-hadron and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering(SIDIS) processes, by taking into account TMD evolution effect is studied under CSS formalism. Our result shows the evolution effect will bring a significant correction to TMD distributions extracted form experiment data.

Using recently published HERMES data on multiplicities in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, we discuss the flavor dependence of unpolarized transverse-momentum dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. We find convincing indications that favored fragmentation into pions have smaller average transverse momentum than unfavored ones and fragmentation into kaons. We find weaker indications of flavor dependence in the transverse-momentum dependence of parton distributions.

Transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions are a key ingredient in the description of spin and azimuthal asymmetries in deep-inelastic scattering processes. Recent results from non-perturbative calculations in effective approaches are reviewed, with focus on relations among different parton distribution functions in QCD and models.
