The traveling wave solutions for an equivalent system of the Green–Naghdi system are considered. The qualitative analysis methods of planar autonomous systems yield their phase portraits. The exact expressions of smooth soliton wave solutions, cusp soliton wave solutions, smooth periodic wave solutions and periodic cusp wave solutions are obtained. Some numerical simulations of these solutions are also given. These reveal some new properties of the Green–Naghdi system.

We investigate the traveling wave solutions of the Green–Naghdi system. Using the qualitative analysis methods of planar autonomous systems, we show not only its phase portraits but also the exact expressions of some bounded wave solutions. These results are a complement of the work by Deng et al. [2011], which studied the traveling wave solutions of its equivalent system under some conditions.

In this paper, we consider the Burgers-[Formula: see text] equation. By using the method of dynamical systems, we obtain bifurcations of the phase portraits of the traveling wave system under different parameter conditions. Corresponding to some special level curves, we derive possible exact explicit parametric representations of solutions (containing periodic wave solutions, peakon solutions, periodic peakon solutions, solitary wave solutions and compacton solutions) under different parameter conditions.

In this paper, we study the bifurcations and exact traveling wave solutions of the celebrated Green–Naghdi equations by using the qualitative theory of differential equations and the bifurcation theory of dynamical systems. We obtain all possible phase portraits of bifurcations of the system under various conditions about the parameters associated with the planar dynamical system. Then we show the existence of traveling wave solutions including solitary wave solutions, blow-up solutions, periodic wave solutions and periodic blow-up solutions, and give their exact explicit expressions. These results can help to understand the dynamical behavior of the traveling wave solutions of the system.

In this paper, we investigate the traveling wave solutions of a two-component Dullin–Gottwald–Holm (DGH) system. By qualitative analysis methods of planar systems, we investigate completely the topological behavior of the solutions of the traveling wave system, which is derived from the two-component Dullin–Gottwald–Holm system, and show the corresponding phase portraits. We prove the topological types of degenerate equilibria by the technique of desingularization. According to the dynamical behaviors of the solutions, we give all the bounded exact traveling wave solutions of the system, including solitary wave solutions, periodic wave solutions, cusp solitary wave solutions, periodic cusp wave solutions, compactonlike wave solutions, and kinklike and antikinklike wave solutions. Furthermore, to verify the correctness of our results, we simulate these bounded wave solutions using the software maple version 18.

In this paper, we apply the method of dynamical systems to the traveling wave solutions of the Novikov equation. Through qualitative analysis, we obtain bifurcations of phase portraits of the traveling system and exact cuspon wave solution, as well as a family of breaking wave solutions (compactons). We find that the corresponding traveling system of Novikov equation has no one-peakon solution.

In this paper, we apply the method of dynamical systems to a generalized two-component Camassa–Holm system. Through analysis, we obtain solitary wave solutions, kink and anti-kink wave solutions, cusp wave solutions, breaking wave solutions, and smooth and nonsmooth periodic wave solutions. To guarantee the existence of these solutions, we give constraint conditions among the parameters associated with the generalized Camassa–Holm system. Choosing some special parameters, we obtain exact parametric representations of the traveling wave solutions.

We investigate the traveling wave solutions and their bifurcations for the BBM-likeB(m,n)equationsut+αux+β(um)x−γ(un)xxt=0by using bifurcation method and numerical simulation approach of dynamical systems. Firstly, for BBM-likeB(3,2)equation, we obtain some precise expressions of traveling wave solutions, which include periodic blow-up and periodic wave solution, peakon and periodic peakon wave solution, and solitary wave and blow-up solution. Furthermore, we reveal the relationships among these solutions theoretically. Secondly, for BBM-likeB(4,2)equation, we construct two periodic wave solutions and two blow-up solutions. In order to confirm the correctness of these solutions, we also check them by software Mathematica.

The exact traveling wave solutions of (4 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear Fokas equation is obtained by using three distinct methods with symbolic computation. The modified tanh–coth method is implemented to obtain single soliton solutions whereas the extended Jacobi elliptic function method is applied to derive doubly periodic wave solutions for this higher-dimensional integrable equation. The Exp-function method gives generalized wave solutions with some free parameters. It is shown that soliton solutions and triangular solutions can be established as the limits of the Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions.

This paper studies the bifurcations of phase portraits for the regularized Saint-Venant equation (a two-component system), which appears in shallow water theory, by using the theory of dynamical systems and singular traveling wave techniques developed in [Li & Chen, 2007] under different parameter conditions in the two-parameter space. Some explicit exact parametric representations of the solitary wave solutions, smooth periodic wave solutions, periodic peakons, as well as peakon solutions, are obtained. More interestingly, it is found that the so-called [Formula: see text]-traveling wave system has a family of pseudo-peakon wave solutions, and their limiting solution is a peakon solution. In addition, it is found that the [Formula: see text]-traveling wave system has two families of uncountably infinitely many solitary wave solutions and compacton solutions.

We use the bifurcation method of dynamical systems to study the traveling wave solutions for the generalized Zakharov equations. A number of traveling wave solutions are obtained. Those solutions contain explicit periodic wave solutions, periodic blow-up wave solutions, unbounded wave solutions, kink profile solitary wave solutions, and solitary wave solutions. Relations of the traveling wave solutions are given. Some previous results are extended.
