We study the role of the non-perturbative input to the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon density in hard processes at the LHC. We derive the TMD gluon distribution from the fit of the inclusive hadron spectra measured at low transverse momenta in [Formula: see text] collisions at the LHC and demonstrate that the best description of these spectra for larger hadron transverse momenta can be achieved by matching the derived TMD gluon distribution with the exact solution of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) equation obtained at small transverse momenta outside the saturation region. A special attention is put to the phenomenological applications of presented TMD parton densities to some LHC processes, which are sensitive to the quark and gluon content of a proton.

The quark spin densities related to generalized parton distributions in impact-parameter space and to transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions are reviewed within a light-cone quark model, with focus on the role of the different spin-spin and spin-orbit correlations of quarks. Results for azimuthal spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering due to T -even transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions are also discussed.

Abstract We investigate the transverse momentum dependence of valence and sea quark distribution functions of light asymmetric nuclei ($$^{3}He$$3He and $$^{7}Li$$7Li). To this end, we first calculate the valence and sea distributions of these nuclei applying a parametrization method in which the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of nucleus are related to those of free nucleon via a weight function that contains the nuclear modifications. Then we obtain the unpolarized transverse momentum dependent (TMD) PDFs of the nucleus using the covariant parton model (CPM) approach. We also compute the valence and sea quark distributions ratios of $$^{3}He$$3He and $$^{7}Li$$7Li to those of deuteron and present the results with respect to x (Bjorken variable) at fixed values of transverse momentum. It is found that these ratios shift to the larger values of x by increasing the transverse momentum value as expected and they are not transverse momentum dependent in large x region.
