Abstract GALFAN is a zinc-5% aluminum alloy with an addition of mischmetal to introduce small amounts of the rare-earth elements lanthanum and cerium. Its composition is eutectic and it was developed to provide a hot-dip coating alloy that would be better than zinc as a protective coating for steel. GALFAN can be used to coat steel sheet, strip and wire with only minor modification of the existing equipment used to produce galvanized steel. GALFAN coatings have good performance characteristics in a variety of applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and hardness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as heat treating and joining. Filing Code: Zn-40. Producer or source: Zinc Research Organization Inc..

Abstract Kaiser Aluminum alloy KA62 (Tennalum alloy KA62) is a lead-free alternative to 6262. It offers good machinability and corrosion resistance and displays good acceptance of coatings (anodize response). It can be used in place of 6262 because its physical and mechanical properties are equivalent to those of 6262 (see Alloy Digest Al-361, September 1999). This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: AL-362. Producer or source: Tennalum, A Division of Kaiser Aluminum.
