We mainly present several equivalent characterizations of the strong metric subregularity of the Mordukhovich subdifferential for an extended-real-valued lower semicontinuous, prox-regular, and subdifferentially continuous function acting on an Asplund space.

AbstractA Banach space is an Asplund space if every continuous gauge has a point where the subdifferential mapping is Hausdorff weak upper semi-continuous with weakly compact image. This contributes towards the solution of a problem posed by Godefroy, Montesinos and Zizler.

In this paper topological linear spaces are categorised according to the differentiability properties of their continuous convex functions. Mazur's Theorem for Banach spaces is generalised: all separable Baire topological linear spaces are weak Asplund. A class of spaces is given for which Gateaux and Fréchet differentiability of a continuous convex function coincide, which with Mazur's theorem, implies that all Montel Fréchet spaces are Asplund spaces. The effect of weakening the topology of a given space is studied in terms of the space's classification. Any topological linear space with its weak topology is an Asplund space; at the opposite end of the topological spectrum, an example is given of the inductive limit of Asplund spaces which is not even a Gateaux differentiability space.

AbstractIn this paper we tackle the problem of identifying set-valued mappings that are subgradient set-valued mappings. We show that a set-valued mapping is the proximal subgradient mapping of a lower semicontinuous function bounded below by a quadratic if and only if it satisfies a monotone selection property.

Abstract. Given a positive continuous function μ on the interval 0 < t ≤ 1, we consider the space of so-called μ-Bloch functions on the unit ball. If μ(t ) = t, these are the classical Bloch functions. For μ, we define a metric Fμz (u) in terms of which we give a characterization of μ-Bloch functions. Then, necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained in order that a composition operator be a bounded or compact operator between these generalized Bloch spaces. Our results extend those of Zhang and Xiao.

In this paper we continue the study of interconnections between separately continuous function which was started by V. K. Maslyuchenko. A pair (g, h) of functions on a topological space is called a pair of Hahn if g ≤ h, g is an upper semicontinuous function and h is a lower semicontinuous function. We say that a pair of Hahn (g, h) is generated by a function f, which depends on two variables, if the infimum of f and the supremum of f with respect to the second variable equals g and h respectively. We prove that for any perfectly normal space X and non-pseudocompact space Y every pair of Hahn on X is generated by a continuous function on X x Y . We also obtain that for any perfectly normal space X and for any space Y having non-scattered compactification any pair of Hahn on X is generated by a separately continuous function on X x Y .
