Prey-predator models with refuge effect have great importance in the context of ecology. Constant refuge and refuge proportional to prey are the most popular concepts of refuge in the existing literature. Now, there are new different types of refuge concepts attracting researchers. This study considers a refuge concept proportional to the predator due to the fear induced by predators. When predators increase, fears also increase and that is why prey refuges also increase. Here, we examine the influence of prey refuge proportional to predator effect in a discrete prey-predator interaction with the Holling type II functional response model. Is this refuge stabilizing or destabilizing the system? That is the central question of this study. The existence and stability of fixed points, Period-Doubling Bifurcation, Neimark–Sacker Bifurcation, the influence of prey refuge, and chaos are analyzed. This work provides the bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents to analyze the refuge parameter of the model. The proposed discrete model indicates rich dynamics as the effect of prey refuge through numerical simulations.

This paper describes a prey-predator model with Holling type II functional response incorporating constant prey refuge and harvesting to both prey and predator species. We have analyzed the boundedness of the system and existence of all possible feasible equilibria and discussed local as well as global stabilities at interior equilibrium of the system. The occurrence of Hopf bifurcation of the system is examined, and it was observed that the bifurcation is either supercritical or subcritical. Influences of prey refuge and harvesting efforts are also discussed. Some numerical simulations are carried out for the validity of theoretical results.

A nonautonomous discrete predator-prey system incorporating a prey refuge and Holling type II functional response is studied in this paper. A set of sufficient conditions which guarantee the persistence and global stability of the system are obtained, respectively. Our results show that if refuge is large enough then predator species will be driven to extinction due to the lack of enough food. Two examples together with their numerical simulations show the feasibility of the main results.

The growing relationship between prey and their predator is one of the important aspects in the field of ecology and mathematical biology. On the other hand, the utility of fractional calculus in different types of mathematical modelling have been applied extensively. In this paper, a fractional order prey–predator model is developed with the consideration of Holling type-I and Holling type-II functional response of the predator. As infection spreads through prey, the prey population is divided into two parts. In addition, we exploit the effect of harvesting to control the excessive spread of the infection. The existence and uniqueness criteria, the boundedness of the solution of the proposed model are investigated. A number of five possible equilibrium points of the proposed model are determined along with the feasibility conditions for each equilibrium points. The local stability at these equilibrium points and global stability at interior equilibrium point are investigated. Numerical simulation is presented with the help of modified Predictor-corrector method in MATLAB software to understand the dynamics of the proposed model.
