Verbascum nihatgoekyigitii sp. nov. (V. sect. Bothrosperma), is described as a new species to science from plants collected in southeastern Anatolia, Turkey. A detailed description, SEM micrographs and an illustration of the type specimen are included, as well as information on the ecology of the species and the IUCN red list assessment are provided. In addition, diagnostic characters of the new species are compared to the morphologically similar V. exuberans, and detailed distribution maps of those species in Turkey are also supplied.

Begonia erythrobracteata (Begoniaceae) is a new, narrow endemic from the Atlantic Coastal Forest of Brazil. This species is closely related to Begonia olsoniae and B. fimbritepala and shares their rupicolous habit and transversely ovate leaf blades with a cordate base. It differs to B. fimbritepala in its petioles, which are densely squamulose along their entire length (vs. with simple trichomes) and B. olsoniae by its glabrous (vs. pilose) adaxial leaf surface. B. erythrobracteata is described and illustrated with detailed field photographs, and a provisional IUCN Red List Assessment is provided.

Two Brassicaceae novelties are reported from Iran. Erysimum hezarense (Erysimeae) is described and illustrated as a newly discovered species. It resembles E. subulatum, E. laxiflorum and E. iraqense but can be readily distinguished by the indumentum of stem, leaves and pedicels; bicolor petals; and number of flowers on the main inflorescence. It is also separated geographically being restricted to Hezar mts. (prov. Kerman, South Iran) where none of the related species occurs. Because of the very limited distribution and high risk of its habit destruction, inclusion of E. hezarense into IUCN Red List with a status vulnerable (VU) is proposed. Besides, Rhammatophyllum gaudanense (Euclidieae) is reported from NE Iran representing the first record of the genus for the country. Contrary, the previous record of R. gaudanense from Afghanistan is considered doubtful and not confirmed. Detailed morphological description, illustration and synonymy of R. gaudanense is provided along with the key differences from the closely related taxa. Distribution maps for both E. hezarense and R. gaudanense are given.

Impatiens wutaishanensis R.L. Liao & Lei Cai, a new species from Southeast Yunnan, China, is here described and illustrated. This new species is most similar to Impatiens parvisepala S.X. Yu & Y.T. Hou in its racemose inflorescences, its four lateral sepals, the leaf arrangement, and in having yellow flowers. However, it differs in the height of the plants, the length of the petiole, the size and shape of the leaf blade, the shape of the spur, and the number of flowers in each inflorescence. A detailed description, color photographs, and a provisional IUCN red list assessment are provided, and its geographical distribution, ecology, and morphological relationship with relevant similar species are discussed.

Campanula phitosiana Yıldırım & Şentürk (Campanulaceae) is described as a new species from the Aydın Mountains range in western Turkey. Diagnostic characteristics, a full description, and comprehensive illustrations and microphotographs of the pollens and seeds are provided. Campanula phitosiana is a stenoendemic species distributed along the Aydın Mountain range near the county of Tire in the province of İzmir in Turkey. It is morphologically related to C. andrewsii, C. celsii, and C. topaliana, which all are distributed on rock crevices in Greece. Differences among the related species are given in detail. A preliminary IUCN Red List assessment of the new species is supplied.

A new species of Orobanche was discovered in the Calanques National Park near Marseille, where it seems to be endemic. Its exclusive host, Staehelina dubia (Asteraceae), was never mentioned before as a host for Orobanchaceae. The new species is described here and named Orobanche staehelinae. The diagnostic characters are given in comparison with possible related species (O. kochii, O. leptantha, O. loscosii, O. canescens and O. santolinae). Its peculiar ecology (thermophilous screes, habitat of community interest) and conservation status (endangered, IUCN red list category) are presented.

Impatiens bijieensis X.X. Bai & L.Y. Ren, a new species from Northwest Guizhou, China, is here described and illustrated. This new species is distributed discontiguously in Jiulongshan of Dafang County and Dajiucaiping of Hezhang County, both of which belong to Wumeng mountains area, a karst plateau landform. It is morphologically similar to I. lasiophyton J.D. Hooker and I. leptocaulon J.D. Hooker in height, leaf blade shape and flower form, especially resembles I. lasiophyton in pilose plant. However, it differs in its deep purplish-red to rose-red flower, 2-lobed lower sepal apex and cylindrical capsule. A detailed description, color photographs, and a provisional IUCN red list assessment are provided, and its geographical distribution, ecology, and morphological relationship with relevant similar species are discussed.

Crassothonna agaatbergensis, here described as a new species, is known only from the northern part of the Skeleton Coast (part of the Namib Desert) in the Kaokoveld Centre of Endemism, northwestern Namibia. These perennial shrublets grow on basalt of the Agaatberg Mountain under harsh desert conditions. Diagnostic characters for C. agaatbergensis include the partially buried, globose, obovoid or ampulliform caudex and the inconspicuous rays which are much shorter than the involucre. A comparison of some of the more prominent morphological features to differentiate between C. agaatbergensis and its possible nearest relatives, C. clavifolia and C. protecta, is provided. Based on IUCN Red List categories and criteria, a conservation assessment of Endangered (EN D) is recommended for the new species.

AbstractAhnea keejeongi Park and Carlton (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae), a new genus and new species of New Zealand endemic beetle belonging to the supertribe Faronitae is described. Six previously described species are included to this genus and four species are synonymised as follow: Sagola dissonans Broun, 1921 and S. planicula Broun, 1921 under Ahnea ventralis (Broun, 1912); S. carinata Broun, 1912 and S. lineiceps Broun, 1921 under Ahnea lineata (Broun, 1893). A key to species, habitus photographs, line drawings of diagnostic characters, and distribution maps are provided.

Ischaemum mistryi, a new species from the Sub-Tropical evergreen forest of Tilari Ghat, Maharashtra, India, is described and illustrated. This grass is unique with its leaves drooping, mostly congregated near the base, basal sheath villous, culms compressed at the base, lower glume of the sessile spikelet linear-lanceolate to oblongish tapering and slightly curled upwards, without a sub-apical ridge, nodules absent (if present 2–4 obscure) on its keels, and upper lemma of sessile spikelet bi-partite. Morphologically it is somewhat similar to I. mangaluricum, I. travancorense and I. barbatum. We provided a table of its detailed comparison with close species as mentioned above. According to IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria, we have assessed this new species as Critically Endangered (CR). The photo plates and illustration of the grass are given to facilitate its proper identification. A short discussion is also provided at the end.

Primulina silaniae X.X.Bai & F.Wen, a new species of Primulina Hance (Gesneriaceae) from the limestone area of Wangmo County, Guizhou Province, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to P. spiradiclioides Z.B.Xin & F.Wen, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by a combination of characteristics, especially in the lateral veins of its leaf and floral shape and tube. At present, three populations in one locality of this new taxon were found, totaling about 600 mature individuals. According to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (Version 3.1), the species is provisionally assessed as Vulnerable [VU D1].
