Stachytarpheta atkinsiae, belonging to the Radlkoferiana group from the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia state Brazil, is here described. It is a red-flowered species, and unusual in being a large, much-branched shrub, with densely lanate indumentum. The species shows similarities with S. froesii and S. radlkoferiana, but differs from both vegetative and floral characters.We provide a full description of the species, together with illustrations, a conservation status assessment, and a distribution map.

Schinus pampeana is a new species from Brazilian Pampa. The new species was tentatively included in Schinus sect. Terebinthifolia, and is morphologically most similar to Schinus lentiscifolia and S. weinmanniifolia. We present here a detailed morphological description, a geographical distribution map, IUCN conservation status assessment, ecological data, photographs, and a table of diagnostic characters of S. pampeana and the most similar species. Schinus pampeana increases the total number of Schinus to about 49 species, of which eleven are recorded in Brazil.

The Brazilian savanna (Cerrado domain), although without significant richness of Chrysobalanaceae, has widely distributed species of this family, and some endemic to this domain. Couepia, a Neotropical genus, includes 62 species distributed mainly in lowland tropical forests with three species recognized for the Brazilian savanna. Here we report a new species of Couepia endemic to Brazilian savanna in the region with the greatest agricultural advance in Brazil, from the states of Tocantins and Goiás. We provide a description, a distribution map, photographs, a preliminary conservation status assessment and comparisons with other species of the genus that occur in this domain. With this addition we help to contribute to the knowledge of plant biodiversity, which is an urgent and fundamental step towards planning and carrying out conservation actions.

Bellevalia behcetii (Asparagaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from Şırnak province in South Eastern Anatolia (Turkey). It is morphologically similar to B. paradoxa but easily differs in several morphological characters. Diagnostic morphological characters, a full description and detailed illustrations of the new species are provided. A quantitative morphometric analysis was carried out to check the diagnostic characters of Bellevalia behcetii with respect to morphologically related species. The somatic chromosome number was determined as 2n = 2x = 8 in B. behcetii. In addition, the ecology and phenology of the new species, as well as its etymology and the pollen characteristics, are presented and discussed. The conservation status of B. behcetii was assessed according to IUCN protocol. A distribution map of B. behcetii and related species is also presented.

Polystachya orophila, a new species of Orchidaceae, is described based on specimens collected during the baseline study of the Guinean Nimba Mountains for the environmental impact assessment for a proposed mining project. While material belonging to this species was mentioned as early as 1920 by Chevalier, it has historically been confused with P. microbambusa, from which it differs by its typically Polystachya-like clustered pseudobulbs, placing it in P. sect. Polystachya, whereas P. microbambusa has pseudobulbs successively growing on top of one another, forming developed and persistent stems, and is the sole representative of P. sect. Dimorphocaules. The complex taxonomic and nomenclatural history of P. microbambusa is also clarified. For both taxa we provide a morphological description as well as information on distribution, habitat, and phenology, an IUCN conservation status assessment using the Red List criteria, and a distribution map, along with a dichotomous key that also includes the most similar members of P. sect. Polystachya.

Beaucarnea olsonii is described and illustrated from tropical deciduous forests of SW Puebla, Mexico. The new species can be distinguished from other Beaucarnea species by its massively swollen base that abruptly tapers into slender branches, by its conspicuously long stigma, and by its pedicel articulation that occurs at 2/3 of the length of the pedicel below the flower. With this new addition, the total number of endemic species of Beaucarnea for Mexico increases to 10, making this country the greatest center of diversification and endemism for the genus. We also provide a distribution map and a conservation status recommendation for the new species, as well as a key to the Beaucarnea species of southern central Mexico.

Pariana caxiuanensis (Poaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from the Brazilian Amazon. The new species is characterized by having the leaves clustered at the apex of the leafy culm, fimbriae few to absent, dimorphic flowering culms, large ligules (2.5–4 mm long), and pubescent to hirsute synflorescences. We present a morphological description, illustrations of the new species, the conservation status assessment, and a key to differentiate P. caxiuanensis from its morphologically related congeners.

Lepidaploa restingae, a new species from the restinga vegetation in Northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. This new species differs from morphologically related species by the branch indument, leaf morphology, number of phyllary series and corolla lobe indument. A new species, Stachys semsurensis (sect. Infrarosularis), is described and illustrated from Adıyaman province, Turkey. From the morphological point of view, it appears to be similar to Stachys cataonica, but it differs in several morphological features including densely covered with short stalked to subsessile glandular hairs in flowering stems, verticillasters congested into ± globose head, calyx teeth lanceolate-subulate, corolla white, tube exserted and nutlets obovoid, greyish-brown, reticulate. A comprehensive description of the new species is provided, including detailed photographs, geographical distribution map, habitat structure and ecology, vernacular name and IUCN conservation status.

A new species, Calea arachnoidea, which belongs to Calea sect. Meyeria, is hereby described and illustrated. This species occurs in the Serra Negra region, located in the southern portion of the “Zona da Mata” in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Calea arachnoidea resembles C. quadrifolia, C. heteropappa and C. semirii, and its relationships with these species are discussed and an identification key for the species of C. sect. Meyeria in the state of Minas Gerais is provided. Additionally, photographs, a distribution map, comments about habitat and conservation status are provided.

Pternopetalum paucifoliolatum, a new species from Sixigou Scenic Area, Emeishan City, Sichuan Province, is proposed and described. Diagnostic morphological characters, full description, detailed illustrations, and a distribution map are provided. The new species is similar to P. porphyronotum in possessing the 1-pinnate leaves and the abaxially purple-red leaflets, but differs from the latter by shorter stature, fewer leaflets ((1–) 3–7) and rays (5–8), the leaflet margin white-ciliate. The new species, which is assessed as Critically Endangered (CR), was only found on limestone cliffs. We also provide a new key to the species of Pternopetalum.
