Camelobaetidius francischettii, new species, is described based on nymphs collected from Alagoas and Rio de Janeiro states, Northeastern and Southeastern Brazil, respectively. The species can be distinguished from the other described species of the genus by the following combination of characters: (1) segment 2 of labial palp with distomedial process rounded and strongly produced; (2) fore femora with prominent protuberance; (3) fore tibia with indentation at apex; (4) ventral margin of fore femur and fore tibia entirely scattered with spines; (5) tarsal claws with 34 to 37 denticles; (6) small thoracic gill at the base of fore coxae; (7) prosternum with a single, medial protuberance; (8) paraprocts with ca. 22 marginal small spines; and (9) terminal filament about as long as the length of the 10 th abdominal segment.

A new species of Ferorhinella Carvalho & Webb 2004 from southeastern Brazil is described and illustrated, and a taxonomic key to species in the genus is provided. Ferorhinella itatiaiensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from other known species of the genus mainly by the paramere with rounded apex and two subapical lateral spines on outer surface, one long, dorsally inserted and the other one small, ventrally inserted; and dorsal margin of the subgenital plates with a rectangular elevation, covered with small, tooth-like spines.

A new species of Enicocephalidae: Enicocephalinae, Phaenicocleus granulosus sp. n. (based on a female), is described from Sabah and compared with the other three species of the genus (based on males). Autapomorphies of the genus (particularly reduced armature of fore tibia and tarsus, interrupted posterior claval vein AA3+4, striking occurrence of large setigerous tubercles the latter shared with Australian Usingeriella) are stressed and partly discussed. A new key to genera of Enicocephalidae with forewing basal cell absent and closed discal cell present is provided.

In the present work a new species of Homoeoneuria is described based on nymphs and adults from Southeastern Brazil. Based on cladistics, the new species belongs to the subgenus Homoeoneuria.s.s. Homoeoneuria (H). watu sp. n., besides being the second species of the genus reported from South America, is the first representative of the subgenus from the region. The new species can be distinguished from the other described species of the genus by the following combination of characters: In the adult stage, (1) pronotum with prominent posteromedian pale yellow spot almost reaching anterior margin; (2) abdominal color pattern; (3) shape of penes. In the nymph, (1) head heavily washed with brownish-orange between compound eyes and ocelli; (2) antennal pedicels with short, thick setae; (3) small paired tubercles present on vertex and anterior margin of pronotum; (4) galea-lacinia of maxillae with submarginal row of 20–21 long, spinous setae; (5) abdominal color pattern. Comments on the biology of the new species are also provided.

Three species of Camelobaetidius Demoulin, 1966 have been reported from Colombia until now, based on nymphs. We describe a fourth species based on nymphs from the Colombian Orinoco river basin. The new species can be recognized by: 1) labrum narrowly rounded anteriorly; 2) segment II of labial palp with a short rounded distomedial projection; 3) incisors of right mandible with eleven denticles; 4) gills absent from the bases of coxae; 5) tarsal claws with ten denticles; 6) outer margin of forefemur with a row of about 23 long, spine-like setae; 7) posterior margin of tergum IV with truncate spines, and 8) terminal filament almost as long as cerci. In the present work, two new species of Cloeodes Traver are described based on nymphs and adults collected in the State of Espírito Santo, Southeastern Brazil. The main characteristics that distinguish the new species from its congeners are, in C. itajara sp. nov.: a) labrum with dorsal arc of setae composed of 12 setae, b) segment III of labial palp with robust and pectinate setae on inner margin, c) fore femur with apex projected, with 5−6 blunt setae, d) male imago with abdominal terga V−VII with a anterolateral triangular black mark; in C. aymore sp. nov.: a) labrum with dorsal arc of setae composed of 1 + 0 + 3 setae, b) fore femur with apex projected, with 2 blunt setae, c) male imago with abdominal terga IV with kidney-like median brown mark.

The South American genus Cardioscarta Melichar, 1932 includes seven species of colorful sharpshooters. Here we describe and illustrate an additional species, C. aurantia sp. nov., from the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil (state of Rio de Janeiro). The new taxon can be distinguished by the dark brown to black forewing with two large orange areas, one from basal portion of corium to distal portions of discal cells and another covering most of clavus, or with single large orange area on basal two-thirds. A key to species of Cardioscarta is provided and the new species is compared with the other ones of the genus.

The Neotropical subgenus Notalina (Neonotalina) Holzenthal, 1986 has ten described species in two species groups: brasiliana, formed by seven species from Southeastern Brazilian and Goiás State; and roraima, represented by three species from the Amazonian and Andes regions. In this paper, a new species of Notalina is described and illustrated from specimens collected in the Mantiqueira mountain range, Southeastern Brazil. The new species belongs to the brasiliana group and is easily recognized by the poorly developed dorsomesal and ventrolateral processes and the pair of mound-like protuberances located mesolaterally on abdominal segment X, and by the robust, rounded mesoventral processes and long digitate mesodorsal processes of the inferior appendages. A key to the Neotropical species in the genus is provided.

The adult male and pupa of a new species of the genus Neoatriplectides Holzenthal, 1997, are described and figured based on specimens collected in the Mantiqueira Mountain Range, southeastern Brazil. A male of Neoatriplectides desiderata, sp. nov., was associated with the unidentified larva described by Holzenthal, 1997. The new species is differentiated from N. froehlichi Holzenthal, 1997, mainly by the division of abdominal segment X into 2 triangular projections, absent in N. froehlichi. The pupal description is the first for this genus.

A new species of the maerid amphipod, Elasmopus nkjaf, from Miyako Island, Ryukyu Islands, Japan, is named and described. Additionally, nucleotide sequences of nuclear 28S ribosomal RNA and histone H3 as well as mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and 16S ribosomal RNA from its holotype and paratype were determined. Elasmopus nkjaf sp. nov. belongs to the rapax-group, and distinguished from the other rapax-group species by long setae on ventral margin of epimeral plate 3, gland cone of peduncular article 2 of antenna 2 not reaching to end of peduncular article 3, propodus of gnathopod 1 facially setose, length of propodus of male gnathopod 2 shorter than 3 times as long as length of carpus, medial face of propodus of male gnathopod 2 shallowly hollowed, posterior margin of epimeral plate 3 without denticles. A key to the species of Elasmopus species occurring Japanese and adjacent waters is provided.

Chresta filicifolia is described and illustrated. It is a perennial herb known only from open vegetation on top of small rock outcrops at the Rio Doce Valley in Eastern Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil. This is the first record of a species of Chresta endemic to a phytogeographic domain other than the Cerrado and Caatinga, since those outcrops are included in the Mata Atlântica Domain (Atlantic Forest). The new species is closely related to C. harleyi and C. hatschbachii, but differs from these by its leaves, which are larger and more deeply lobed than those of the other two species, and also by its florets and cypselae, which are both larger in Chresta filicifolia. Moreover, the two other species are allopatric from C. filicifolia, being restricted to the Caatinga Domain. The southernmost distribution of C. harleyi lies more than 500 km away from the locality where the new species is found, making this discovery unexpected, and raising interesting biogeographical questions, which are briefly addressed here.
