A new species of Megophryidae, Leptobrachium bompu is described from Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is a medium sized member of the genus Leptobrachium. In life, the frog is distinguished by the combination of a series of morphological characters from its congeners. Its entirely greyish-blue coloured eyes differentiate the species from all other species in the genus but Leptobrachium waysepuntiense. The morphological comparison is based on a table of 16 characters discriminant in Leptobrachium species.

A new species of Sacada from northern Thailand is described: S. chaehomensissp. nov. Pellinen & Zahiri (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae, Pyralinae). Morphological characters and DNA barcode data are provided for the new species, with a morphological comparison to S. dzonguensis and S. umtasorensis, and a DNA-barcode comparison to S. ragonotalis and S. albioculalis, respectively. After this addition, the current number of valid species in the genus Sacada is 43.

A new species, Metallolophia taleensis, sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Tale Wildlife Sanctuary, Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh, India, based on male specimens. A second species, Metallolophia opalina (Warren, 1893), is recorded from India after more than a century, extending its range eastwards into Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Abstract The potamid genus AcanthopotamonKemp, 1918 is known from three species, A. fungosum (Alcock, 1909), A. martensi (Wood-Mason, 1875) (type species), and A. panningi (Bott, 1966), and is found in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. Within this range, the genus is found in the ‘Ganges Delta and Plain,’ ‘Lower and Middle Indus,’ and ‘Namuda-Tapi’ freshwater ecoregions. Here we describe a fourth species, A. horaisp. nov., from northeastern India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Mizoram) in the ‘Middle Brahmaputra’ and ‘Ganges Delta and Plain’ freshwater ecoregions. The new species possesses a unique suite of external and gonopod morphological characters, with the slender and narrowly conical terminal segment of the first male gonopod being particularly diagnostic. A key to the species of Acanthopotamon is provided.

Alyssum rossetii, a stenoendemic madwort discovered on a mountain slope in the Valpelline valley (northern part of the Aosta Valley in the Pennine Alps), is described here as a new species. It is a perennial that is morphologically close to the Alyssum montanum-A. repens complex, with several hitherto neglected peculiar morphological characters. Here we present a full description of the new taxon, including information on its chromosome number, genome size and ecology, as well as a detailed morphological comparison of the new species with four related taxa occuring in the broader region, namely A. flexicaule, A. montanum, A. orophilum and A. rhodanense. Besides morphological differences, the new species also conspicuously differs from the other taxa in relative monoploid genome size. According to the IUCN Red List categories and criteria, it should be classified as Endangered.

The taxonomy of Babina sensu lato was controversial in the past decades. In this study, the phylogeny of genus Babina sensu lato was re-constructed based on genetic analysis, morphological comparison and advertisement call analysis. We found that Babina sensu stricto and previous subgenus Nidirana should be two distinct genera in the family Ranidae. N. caldwelli is confirmed to be a synonym of N. adenopleura because of the small genetic divergence and the lack of distinct morphological differences. A new species, Nidirana nankunensis sp. nov. is described based on a series of specimens collected from Mt. Nankun, Guangdong Province, China, which can be distinguished from other known congeners by having a behavior of nest construction, distinctive advertisement calls, significant divergence in the mitochondrial genes, and a combination of morphological characters. Currently, the genus Babina contains two species and the genus Nidirana contains eight species.

A new species of Dendrophorbium from northern Peru is described and illustrated. The species is, so far, only known from the type locality in southern Leimebamba Province (Amazonas Region, Peru). Morphological characters are provided in order to distinguish it from the closest relatives. A table with the morphological comparison with other species of Dendrophorbium is provided.

Cyrtodactylus phnomchiensissp. nov. is described from Phnom Chi, an isolated mountain in Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. The new species is recognized by having a unique combination of morphological characters, including snout-vent length 76.1–80.7 mm; paravertebral tubercles 31–36; ventral scales 45–54; enlarged femoral scales 0–8, without pores; enlarged precloacal scales 7–10, bearing pores 4–5 in males, pits 1–7 in females; the posterior border of nuchal loop unbroken and pointed, bordered anteriorly and posteriorly by a broad yellow or yellowish white band; and yellow spots on top of head. The new species also represents a divergent mitochondrial DNA lineage within the C. irregularis complex that is closely related to C. ziegleri, but the phylogenetic relationships among the new species and two divergent mitochondrial subclades within C. ziegleri are not resolved based on available sequence data. Cyrtodactylus phnomchiensissp. nov. is the only member of the C. irregularis complex known to occur west of the Mekong River. The new species may be endemic to Phnom Chi, and likely faces imminent conservation threats.

Vicia mingyueshanensis, a new species from the Mingyue Mountain Region of western Jiangxi, China, is described and illustrated. It is a perennial climbing liana that always links to riparian woods. A morphological comparison indicated that the new species is closely similar to Vicia taipaica K. T. Fu and Vicia dichroantha Diels; however, it differs from the other two species by several salient characters, such as plant indumentum, stipule shape, corolla colour, bractlet shape and calyx shape. Photographs, a preliminary conservation assessment, table of morphological characters and distribution map comparing this new species to two morphologically-similar species are also provided.

We describe Hedychiumziroensesp. nov. from Northeast India (NE India) which was discovered during one of our recent botanical explorations in Arunachal Pradesh. We provide detailed morphological comparison of this species with four other Hedychium species (H.griersonianum R.M.Sm., H.ellipticum Buch.-Ham. ex Sm., H.gomezianum Wall. and H.yunnanense Gagnep.), with which it shares some morphological similarities. The new species is characterised by a dense cylindrical spike, pubescent rachis, folded bracts, 2–3 flowers per cincinnus, deeply cleft labellum and a distinctive late monsoonal flowering phenology from August to September.

Chayamaritia vietnamensis, a new species from Son La Province, northern Vietnam, is described and illustrated. The phylogenetic study revealed that the new species is most closely related to C. banksiae and C. smitinandii. The morphological comparison suggests it as the third new species of Chayamaritia and distinguished from C. banksiae and C. smitinandii by a combination of morphological characters of leaf blades, bracts, calyx and corolla, especially its peltate leaf blades. This species is provisionally assessed as endangered (EN B1ab(iii), B2ab(iii)) using IUCN Categories and Criteria. Information on ecology, phenology and an identification key for the known Chayamaritia species are also provided.
