Two new species of the genus Papillacarus (Acari: Oribatida: Lohmanniidae) from caves of Southern Vietnam

An annotated checklist of oribatid mite taxa from three caves of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve (Southern Vietnam) is pro-vided. We recorded 33 species, 29 genera and 16 families, of which 10 species, five genera and two families were foundin Vietnam for the first time. Three species, Malaconothrus variosetosus, Discoppia cylindrica and Machuella lineata, arefor the first time recorded from the Oriental region. Two new cave species of the genus Papillacarus are described. Papil-lacarus indistinctus sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to Papillacarus polygonatus Ermilov & Anichkin, however,it differs from the latter by the types of neotrichal setae, length of notogastral setae, morphology of some genital setae,epimeral setal formula, number of subcapitular setae m and palptarsal setae. P. polysetosus sp. nov. is morphologicallymost similar to Papillacarus jinggangshanensis Chen, Yang & Liang and P. konglinensis Chen & Yang, but differs fromboth by body size, body surface, length of certain notogastral setae, number of subcapitular setae m, and epimeral setal formula. An identification key to the Vietnamese species of Papillacarus is presented.

AbstractAn annotated checklist of identified oribatid mite taxa from Nepal is provided. It includes 77 species/subspecies, 56 genera and 40 families; 36 species/subspecies, 21 genera and nine families are recorded for the first time in Nepal. Two new species, Vilhenabates schawalleri sp. n. (Haplozetidae) and Taiwanoppia (Taiwanoppia) paranepalica sp. n. (Oppiidae), are described from soil of central Nepal. Vilhenabates schawalleri sp. n. is morphologically similar to V. giganteus Ermilov & Rybalov, 2012, however, it differs from the latter by the body size, length of rostral, lamellar and subcapitular setae, location of lamellar setae, adanal setae ad 3 and adanal lyrifissures and number of porose areas. Taiwanoppia (Taiwanoppia) paranepalica sp. n. is morphologically similar to T. (T.) nepalica Ermilov & Martens, 2014, however, it differs from the latter by the body size and morphology of the rostrum.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material (Acari, Oribatida) collected from Tam Dao National Park (Northern Vietnam) in 1988. A list of identified taxa, including 119 species from 80 genera and 47 families, is presented; of these, 13 species (Epilohmannoides rabori, Camisia spinifer, Sadocepheus undulatus, Eremobelba flexuosa, Hammerella excisa, Suctobelbella inenodabilis, Dolicheremaeus auritus, Eupelops acromios, Protoribates genitalis, Allogalumna machadoi, Carinogalumna philippinensis, Pergalumna magnipora capillaris, Galumnella nipponica) and five genera (Epilohmannoides, Camisia, Sadocepheus, Brassiella, Carinogalumna) are recorded in the Vietnamese fauna for the first time, and two species (Tokunocepheus mizusawai, Flagellozetes (Cosmogalumna) ornatus), one genus (Tokunocepheus) and one family (Tokunocepheidae) are recorded in the Oriental region for the first time. Two new species are described: Ramusella paraarcuata sp. nov. differs from Ramusella arcuata Mahunka & Mahunka-Papp, 2012 by the larger body size, lamellar setae similar in length and thickness to interlamellar setae, the presence of two or three branches on bothridial setae, and the absence of notogastral setae c. Neoribates paragracilis sp. nov. differs from Neoribates gracilis Travé, 1972 by the larger body size, and the presence of long apex (not shorter than head) on bothridial setae.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material (Acari, Oribatida) collected from soil of Kaaimansgat estuary, Wilderness, Western Cape, South Africa in 2018. A list of identified taxa, including 41 species from 34 genera and 23 families, is presented; of these, nine species, three genera and one family are recorded in South Africa for the first time. Two new species belonging to the family Oppiidae are described: Kokoppia kaaimansensis sp. nov. differs from Kokoppia dudichi (Balogh, 1982) by the larger body size, the medium sized lamellar and interlamellar setae, the presence of muscle sigillae in the interlamellar region and the distinctly semi-oval epimeral borders IV and the absence of notogastral setae c; Paroppia neethlingi sp. nov. differs from other species of the genus by the localization of adanal lyrifissures in a direct apoanal position and the absence of epimeral borders IV. Revised generic diagnoses and identification keys to the known species of Kokoppia and Paroppia are presented.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material collected in 1936, 1964 and 1968 in Venezuela. A list of identified taxa, including 18 species from 18 genera and 15 families is presented; of these, eight species, eight genera and two families are recorded in this country for the first time, and one species is recorded in the Neotropical region for the first time. Two new species of the family Achipteriidae (Acari, Oribatida) are described. Campachipteria hummelincki sp. nov. differs from C. neotropicalis (Mahunka, 1983) by the smaller body size, long and similar in length notogastral setae and well dilated bothridial heads. Cubachipteria maxsellnicki sp. nov. differs from C. gaoligongensis Tang, Yang & Liang, 2015 and C. pianmaensis Tang, Yang & Liang, 2015 by the short, distally ciliate bothridial setae and the position of the lamellar setae.

AbstractAn annotated checklist of identified Brazilian Oppioidea is provided; it includes 14 species, eight genera and two families. Five species - Teratoppia (Teratoppiella) brevipectinata, Ramusella (Ramusella) curtipilus, Striatoppia opuntiseta, Moritzoppia (Moritzoppia) keilbachi and Multioppia (Hammeroppia) gracilis - are recorded for the first time in Brazil; of these, M. (Moritzoppia) keilbachi and M. (Hammeroppia) gracilis are recorded from the Neotropical region for the first time. Two new species, Teratoppia (Teratoppia) parareducta sp. n. and Brachioppia insolita sp. n., are described and illustrated on the basis of adult specimens. Teratoppia (T.) parareducta sp. n. is most similar to T. (T.) reducta Balogh & Mahunka, 1969, but it differs from the latter by the position of adanal lyrifissures, length of rostral setae and lamellar setae and morphology and length of notogastral setae. Brachioppia insolita sp. n. differs from other species of the genus by the position of adanal lyrifissures and shape of anterior notogastral margin.

The oribatid mite genus Eurhynchoribates (Oribatida, Rhynchoribatidae) is recorded in the Philippines for the first time. Two new species are described from litter and soil of secondary forests. Eurhynchoribates samarensis sp. nov. differs from all species of the genus by the presence of 14 pairs of notogastral setae, and is designated as type species of the new subgenus Orinchobates subgen. nov. Eurhynchoribates (Eurhynchoribates) misamisensis sp. nov. is morphologically similar to E. (Eurhynchoribates) obtusus (Mahunka, 1985), but differs by the smaller body size, rostral setae clearly longer than lamellar setae, all barbed, and the presence of two transverse ridges between antero-lateral concavities on the prodorsum. The inclusion of Eurhynchoribates orientalis (Balogh, 1970) in the subgenus Orinchobates is proposed.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material collected in 1937 in Colombia. A list of identified taxa, including 13 species from 11 genera and 10 families is presented; of these, two species of the genus Galumna are new to science, 10 species, 10 genera and eight families are recorded in this country for the first time. Galumna (Galumna) colombiana sp. nov. differs from to G. (Galumna) innexa Pérez-Íñigo & Baggio, 1986 by the sculpture of prodorsum, ornamentation of pteromorphs, morphology of bothridial heads, length of rostral and lamellar setae and localization of notogastral lyrifissures im. Galumna (Galumna) naturalisi sp. nov. differs from G. (Galumna) reticulata Hammer, 1958 by the body size, sculpture of prodorsum and the development of lenticulus.

The oribatid mite subgenus Scheloribates (Topobates) Grandjean, 1958, is recorded from the Neotropical region for the first time. A new species of this subgenus is described from the leaf litter collected in Cayo Agua Island, Panama. Scheloribates (Topobates) panamaensis sp. nov. differs from its related species by the very large body size and presence of a strong ventrodistal process on the leg femora II–IV.

This work includes taxonomic and faunistic data on galumnid mites (Oribatida, Galumnidae) belonging to the genera Galumna and Pergalumna collected from the Montagne d'Ambre National Park, North Madagascar. Two new species are described: Galumna sandormahunkai n. sp. differs from its closest species, Galumna sphagni by the larger body size, the presence of strongly protruding rostrum, lanceolate, pointed apically bothridial setae, the direction of lamellar lines, and the absence of median pore; Pergalumna janosbaloghi n. sp. differs from the most similar species, Pergalumna aegra, by the smaller body size and the presence of long lamellar setae and elongate, distinctly or slightly triangular porose areas Aa. Galumna granalata and Pergalumna amamiensis are recorded in the Ethiopian region for the first time; Pergalumna conspicua and P. frater are recorded in Madagascar for the first time.

A list of identified taxa, including 68 species from 49 genera and 32 families, is presented; of these, ten species (Trhypochthonius japonicus, Nothrus oblongus, Hermanniella aliverdievae, Arthrodamaeus decemsetiger, Arcoppia fenestralis orientalis, Ramusella puertomonttensis, Allosuctobelba grandis, Scheloribates elegans, Neoribates gracilis, Pergalumna corniculata) and one genus (Trhypochthonius) are recorded in the Vietnamese fauna for the first time; seven species (Xenillus selgae, Arcoppia curtipila, Cycloppia granulata, Hammerella gracilis, Allosuctobelba tricuspidata, Ceratozetoides maximus, Protoribates hakonensis) and one genus (Ceratozetoides) are recorded in the Oriental region for the first time. Two new species belonging to the genera Allosuctobelba and Oribatella are described: Allosuctobelba alexanderkhaustovi sp. nov. differs from Allosuctobelba tricuspidata tricuspidata Aoki, 1984 in the rostrum having three to four lateral teeth and very long notogastral setae positioned in two parallel rows; Oribatella pavelklimovi sp. nov. differs from Oribatella kunsti Bernini, 1972 by the granulate body surface, setiform  aggenital setae and the dorsolateral position of notogastral setae lm and lp.
