A new species of spider crab is described from two male specimens collected from the southeastern Arabian Sea. This species differs from its congeners in the absence of uograstric granule on carapace, the presence of two granules along lateral margin of carapace at branchial region, the presence of granules on P2–P4 dactyli and the constricted distal tip of the male first gonopod.

Five species of Caprellidea (Amphipoda) occur on a benthic transect between Gay Head, Massachusetts and Bermuda. Three species, Caprella rinki Stephensen, Mayerella limicola Huntsman, and Proaeginina norvegica (Stephensen) are refigured and redescribed. A new species of Thorina and a new genus and species are described from bathyal and abyssal depths. All five species are arctic–boreal in affinities and may be expected to range south only to Cape Hatteras on the continental slope, but much farther south at abyssal depths.

A new arhynchobatin skate, Notoraja sereti n. sp., is described based on three specimens collected from off Madang (Papua New Guinea) at depths of 800–980 m. This medium-size Notoraja skate shares with other velcro skates from the Western Pacific, N. alisae, N. fijiensis, N. inusitata and N. longiventralis, a ventral surface covering of fine denticles giving the skin a velvety feel. Notoraja sereti differs from all of these species in having a shorter snout (preorbital length 10.1–11.1 vs. 11.5–14.5% TL, prenasal length 8.2–8.9 vs, 9.8–12.1% TL), shorter head (dorsal head length 15.2–16.2 vs. 17.1–19.3% TL, ventral head length 21.6–22.9 vs. 22.9–25.9% TL), fewer pectoral-fin radials (total radials 58–60 vs. 61–74), and fewer vertebrae (predorsal diplospondylous centra 66–71 vs. 72–82, predorsal centra 90–95 vs. 98–107, total centra 126–131 vs. 135–152).

Holothurians of the family Psychropotidae are widely distributed, but remain least studied deep-sea holothurians. On an expedition in the Western Pacific, six psychropotid specimens were collected by the Jiaolong human operated vehicle (HOV). Through morphological examination, four of them were identified as a new species, Benthodytes jiaolongi sp. nov., which was characterized as having minute papillae, narrow brims, and terminal anus; the ossicles were either rods or primary crosses. The remaining two specimens were identified as Psychropotes verrucicaudatus Xiao, Gong, Kou & Li, 2019, which was first recorded at the Kyushu-Palau Ridge. The phylogenetic analysis confirmed the classification status of B. jiaolongi and P. verrucicaudatus, and indicated a paraphyletic relationship within the genus Benthodytes. The new species clustered with Benthodytes sanguinolenta and was separated from the clade containing the other Benthodytes species.

The deep-water epialtid spider crab (superfamily Majoidea) material collected from recent French expeditions to Papua New Guinea (BIOPAPUA 2010, PAPUA NIUGINI 2012, MADEEP 2014, and KAVIENG 2014) was studied. In addition to several new records for the country, five new species of Oxypleurodon Miers, 1885, Rochinia A. Milne-Edwards, 1875, and Tunepugettia Ng, Komai & Sato, 2017, are described. The taxonomy of Tunepugettia is reappraised, and a new genus, Crocydocinus n. gen., is established, characterised by its smooth ambulatory legs and a distinct male first gonopod structure. Four species from the Bay of Bengal, Sumatra, and Réunion Island, currently placed in Rochinia and Tunepugettia are transferred to Crocydocinus n. gen. and four new species from Papua New Guinea, Philippines, and Vanuatu are described. A new genus, Neophrys n. gen., with one new species from Papua New Guinea, is established, and is characterised by the supraorbital eave being fused with the carapace and the poorly developed pre-orbital angle.

A new genus and species of glass sponge, belonging to the family Pheronematidae, is described from a single specimen collected from a seamount near Yap Trench in the western Pacific Ocean. Pheronemoides fungosus gen. et sp. nov. is described based on external morphology. In Pheronemoides gen. nov. the basalia are grouped in a broad semicircular tuft attaching to the dermal surface, and marginalia are located on the boundary between the atrial and dermal surfaces. Given the positions of the basalia and the marginalia, we recognize Pheronemoides as a transitional genus between Pheronema and Sericolophus. We also used a partial sequence of the 16S rDNA gene to confirm the validity of the new species designation.

The phylogenetic analysis confirmed the classification status of B. jiaolongi and P. verrucicaudatus, and indicated a paraphyletic relationship within the genus Benthodytes. The new species clustered with Benthodytes sanguinolenta and was separated from the clade of the other Benthodytes species. Furthermore, B. sanguinolenta and B. jiaolongi sp. nov. was found to be different from the other Benthodytes species based on their morphology. Therefore, a revision of the genus Benthodytes is needed to solve its phylogenetic relationship.

A new genus and species, Unguitarsonemus paradoxus n. gen., n. sp. and a new species, Pseudotarsonemoides peruviensis n. sp. (Acari: Trombidiformes: Tarsonemidae), are described based on phoretic females collected on bark beetles Phloeotribus pilula and Ph. biguttatus, respectively, from Peru. A key to species of the genus Pseudotarsonemoides is provided.
